OSS vs LS3 v2 AE's

BavX LS3 thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=429957
v2: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=435444
OSS thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374002
Site: http://f1autohaus.myshopify.com/products/ossdesigns

LS3's have 222 individual LED's, while OSS has only 216. However, judging from the pictures, the gaps between the OSS LED's have a beaded effect, which I like. Also, the OSS's are $100 cheaper, and their black out option is waaaay cooler than the LS3's (they do amber delete, also get rid of the side housings). Im too lazy to copy the pics, so just click the threads. Which one would you guys go with? I love the look of the blackouts on former_boosted_IS's.. BavX does offer a blackout option, but it just doesn't look as good with the side-amber housing. edit::The fact that I'm located in SoCal also limits me to LS3's, but shipping to florida would be a sound option if OSS is comparable.

Soooo .. You want us to compare two products for you even though one of them isn't an option for you?

Regardless - you're spot on on your observations. You're not going to be able to get 'the works' done going with the LS3 however they are very nice and I'm sure you won't have any complaints.

just trollin for ur .02 guess I meant to say it's easier to do it locally through BavX since we're both located in Socal, but OSS is an option if others think their better

I have oss, they are amazing. Pictures do not do them justice. They are brighter during the day and at night then those pictures give them justice. The blackout option, corner delete and white led are another reason i went OSS.

yah, i've seen the OSS in person, but not the LS3's. I'm considering just shipping them to OSS, but don't want to risk damages. Wish someone would post a DIY

I have the LS3 AE on my car and I honestly couldn't be happier with the end result. I'm located in Walnut, CA which is right next to DB. Hit me up next time you're in the area and I'll meet you up to show you this great system in person. A bunch of guys saw this at the LTBMW meet this past Saturday and I'm sure they can attest for the quality of the product. Here are a few more pics for you to check out!

the BavX rings appear to be more closely matched to the original halo size. the OSS inner ring is a bit larger than the stock... I'm really on the fence and need to see some better pics of the V2 on an e92 before I plunk down the cash.

The V2 units should arrive in about two weeks. I'll be on board to retrofit one side of my headlight unit with the larger outer ring so that we can get some comparison shots so stay tuned!

Looks really nice. A big decision for me is turn around time. How long were you without a car due to the install? Obviously, it'd make more sense for me to go to Brea versus shipping them out to OSS....but, OSS is creme of the crop.

Mike@F1 seems to be currently out of commission, so OSS wouldn't really be an option (for right now, anyway)...

That's why you contact OSS directly - Mike was just a reseller. Luis @ OSS is still working, in fact my lights are arriving there today or tomorrow.

OSS is still up and going. Recieved my lights on Friday, pictures do not do these lights justice.

turn around time I've read is 2-3 days, however you could pay a little extra to get a same day install (6-8 hours I was told). I pm'd kevin/bavarianx and got the info and pricing for the LS3 install....

^^ Kevin @ Bavarianx actually answered my question in another thread and he said if I could get the car to him in the morning, they'd have it done by the end of the day

Pretty eager to see V2's though in comparison to the V1s....

We should get the V2 rings and brackets in about a week or so and we will do a set on Alan's E92(Awei130) with one side V1 and the other V2 to give you guy a comparison.

I went with the OSS design 6 months ago and ship them next day there and next day back so it was pretty expensive but i would do it again in a heart beat. Pictures dont do the lights justice. I haven't seen LS3 in person but they do look great.

it really depends. $250 for OSS +200-ish install, about a buck more for the LS3's. LS3's have more LED's, and also offer the blackout option free of charge. When you choose the blackout option from OSS, they run about the same.
