Constant engine misfire on start - perfect after 5 seconds

Hi all,

I have a 2005 E90 N46 320i (sold in Australia).

About 5/6 times the car is started it kicks, holds for about a second then drops violently in the revs and stalls. Only a heavy foot on the gas will keep it from stalling. After this period, the car runs perfectly. No rough idle, no stalling, no fluctuation or hesitation of any kind. I never get a code one it's running smoothly and I've cleared the fault code thrown with the start up issue.

When the start up issue happens and the car stalls, I get 2B63 (camshaft sensor exhaust). I was getting this code constantly every 3 seconds before I replaced the camshaft sensors, and it never pops up apart from the start up issue.

Some things to note, I've replaced:

- Valvetronic Motor (and gasket)
- Valve cover gasket
- Eccentric Shaft Sensor
- Ignition coil packs
- Spark plugs
- Both camshaft sensors (genuine)
- MAF

I'm completely lost here, and I've got no where to go. A guru's help would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks.

Leaky injectors?

Try this:

See if you can locate the fuel pump fuse. Remove it. Crank the engine to relieve pressure. Then allow to sit for however long it usually takes the problem to show up.

Then with the fuse back restart and see.

You have classic symptoms of injector(s) leaking overnight, producing a misfire on start up until the excess fuel has burned off.
