I'm not sure. But I can tell you that when I asked the forum for 6MT beta testers, i got about ~10 emails. When I asked for 6AT testers, I got ~40.

Thanks!
My experience with a RevII on the track has been excellent. The car behaves great and I haven't experienced anything I would consider abnormal let alone dangerous in any part of it.

I was also expecting the car I drove to overheat, but even after a full 25 minute session, the only thing loosing power was the brakes. And of course it's great to have the security of the temperature-based boost watchdog, so if the car gets too hot the RevII cuts out and goes back to stock boost.

Can't comment on the new maps as they are obviously only 24 hours or so old! Should be awesome, though!

installed the new maps this morning before I left for work. Car pulls very hard consistently throughout the powerband. Can't ask for much more. Might run with Mr. 5 on sunday... but no guarantees on that happening.

Good evening,

I just came back after trying the new AT beta map, these are my initial impressions:
-Less lag and improved response at all rpm's
-More boost to redline (yes confirmed with my gauge)
-No "pause feeling" during shifting (and still no brutal shifts)
-My cars feels a bit more powerful at all RPM's

----->Most important for me is something that I have not seen anyone mention: The shifting beavoiur att typical slow city driving is sooo much improved! It feels like I have new gerarbox! The jearkines and hesitation at slow driving seems to be gone. Please note that I have complained to BMW about this for 1 year so this was a very nice surprise for me!

The mapswitching works like a charm and is a no brainer! What I don't like right now is if Valet mode is enabled my car will still not start in valet if I turned off the car with map 1 or 2 - it will start with the latest used map. This needs to be changed as Valet mode for me is BMW service mode...

All in all I give this update both tumbs up!

Is there a way around that. Id like the car to stay in whatever map I was previously using. I actually dont have mine on..to get in valet its when the ses light stays on for a longer period of time vs the quick blink for map 1 or 2 quick blinks of map 2.

+1, and if valet the light doesn't blink at all, that would be a winner IMO for unscheduled dealer visit (Blinking only when on map 1 or 2 or 3....)

By default, no blinking means valet! Blink once=Map1, Blink twice=Map2 etc.

Voilà!

I think it would be more stealthy that way, but that is IMHO.

If you are really not sure, which is unlikely, then cycle through again.

Shiv,

The new functionality is spectacular! I would ask you to consider NOT changing how map changing is working in the beta:

I actually like how the latest used map is retained, even with valet mode enabled. The need for valet is usually occassional, while most of the time I would be driving the car myself. If reverted to valet upon every start, then I must continuously re-select the performance map.

If the last-used setting was retained, then when valet is needed it can be selected right before dropping off the car, and even if restarted, the valet setting would still be engaged. After getting the vehicle back all that's needed is to reselect the performance map - ONCE - and it will be retained until changed again. Best of both worlds.

Yes, very strong beta map indeed; I'll be going to dyno this friday, we'll see how it goes.

In terms of boost for stg.3....what boost will u be hitting more in the upper rpms? say 5500-6800?

and also what is the peak boost of this map, Is it the usual 15.5 for stg.3 (UT 85%).

cant wait to try these new maps, im still on the original canbus maps

Believe it or not, the beta maps actually run less peak boost than the previous series of maps. You'll notice that there is no longer an intentional "bump" in the boost curve between 5000 and 5500rpm. I don't expect these maps to make any more power than the older maps on the dyno. But on the road, we've made it so that all that power is accessible quickly and predictably.

So will map selection work like before, where you set by default to have valet on or off, and if off, which map to start with, and on every engine start, that's how it is?

Or will the last selection via the DTC button now become a sticky, and the next time the car starts, it picks the last selected map/valet mode? (my vote!)
