Thornhill Tints or FX Auto Tint

I'm looking into getting tints for my E92, and have narrowed down to 2 places; Thornhill Tints and FX Auto Tint. It seems like many e90 members got theirs done at Thornhill Tints. I'm just wondering if there is a specific reason to that as i've heard great reviews from both places.

Secondly, I'm not sure which type of tints I should go for. I want a clean look and I don't want something too dark, but not as light as 35% or higher. I was thinking Formula 1 Pinnacle at 30%.

Richard from Thornhill Tints suggested to go with the SLP tint film as he said the colour on the film is really nice. I trust Richard, but personally, I've never heard of this type of film. Have you guys? any feedbacks would be great.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the SLP tint film...but I got my tints about 2 weeks ago at AutoLinks (http://www.auto-links.ca/) and went with the Formula 1 Pinnacle at 30% - I think it looks clean and keeps you safe from the cops . I'd suggest you go to Thornhill if they are familiar with BMW's, the dot matrix can be tricky... especially on the e92.

Would you be able to post a pic of yours? I'll leaning towards Formula 1 Pinnacle at 30% as well.

I was at T.T. quoting my tint job 2 weeks ago and T.T. charges a bit more than others and they do not normally carry the Pinnacle ceramic tint. They can order the ceramic tint film.

Will never go back to FX auto again. I hear nothing but good things about auto-links though.

Plus 1,000,000,000 for Auto-links.
They charge reasonable rates, they use pinnacle tint and they do a great job. I went there with my bro and they did an awesome job on both our cars.

They even did the dotmatrix very clean. Love their work. Highly recommended.

Go to Auto-Links ! great service and install, even the dot-matrix doesn't look bad. John told me to bring it back in if I had any problems with it, but I haven't had to go back ! Great guys

FYI Town and Country uses Thornhill for all their cars.

I actually had my new car recently tinted at FX (they also did my E90). I've noticed a few imperfections that I'm a bit pissed about but I haven't had time to go back up there. Not sure I would use them again.

What did they screw up if you don't mind sharing. Is it the dot matrix part? If it is, for sure i'm not going there.

If its dot matrix , its actually pretty common and it would happen which is why most places would tell you to come back a week after when everything is dried they would re fix the dot matrix.

No, rear window, some small areas where it appears the tint did not get affixed for some reason. Small, but noticeable and not acceptable.

Auto FX did my e90 about a month or so ago, and when it dried, every window had bubbles. They had to re do all windows, and said they would just touch up the rear window.

The windows they re-did are fine, but the back has too many bubbles. I need to go back to get it re-done as well. I'd go elsewhere next time.

Same story with FX. EVERY window had bubbles or debris under the tint. The rear window has debris, and little fibres under the tint as well. The worst part? A hand print inside the rear tint!

The second worst part was the owner who ducked my calls for months, 30+ calls and he never even tried to call back.

Looks like you are in Thornhill. If Auto Links (preferred tinter) is too far, there is ITint near you. Not really sure if they carry ceramic tint film. Call them.

Hwy 7 / Centre Street - right around McDonald

I'm sure the author doesn't need such a service anymore But it would be great to add more places to this thread. If you don't mind, I'll start. I know guys who can do miracles. They can detail and clean your car the way you will feel the brand-new car smell! One more thing I like about this service is that it is possible to detail your car in your own driveway, and you can choose a convenient time (personally I prefer washing car before work). If someone is interested, visit https://autodetailingpro.ca/
