$60 Angel Eye Upgrade
Hey everyone, I wanted to share a seller I found that sells strong quality Angel Eye Bulbs for a great price. I understand a lot of new people here try and make this one of their first upgrades, and for a good reason because it makes your car look awesome to oncoming cars.
As for Angel Eyes you really have three options (imo) you could get LUX, MTECH, or an off brand for a fraction of the price, however by getting an off brand you risk having poor quality. Many members here get LUX and/or MTECH and love the results. As you should for paying around $300. I however being a college student did not want to pay that much but i DID WANT A WARRANTY (heard too many stories of bulbs going out from friends and first hand experience). Doing some research I came across BMWLED.net which sells different types AND has a 1 year full warranty. I ended up ordering 10W Cree for $60. (They have other wattage as well and also provide for e92's) After installation I could not be more happy. For $60 I am blown away. In the day light I would rate the visibility up close about a 6/10, but from afar in broad daylight I would rate about a 8/10. As for dusk/night, they look incredible. Here are some pictures and link to the website. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask. As mentioned earlier, LUX and MTECH are fantastic brands from what I hear, but if you do decide to go a cheaper route, I would check out this website mainly because the quality imo is great and it has a warranty. One Side Note: For 2006 E90, the housing for the Angel Eye's are supposedly smaller than other years, so you have to make a small modification to the unit. It;s very easy and took me about 45 seconds per bulb. I have pictures included in a step by step http://www.bmwled.net |

I used to own a 2003 m3.
Bought AE set from Mustafa (bmwled.com) Those AEs for e46 were the best and exactly what I wanted. Perfect look. Now I have a 2007 E90 335i. Bought from AE led and fog light LED from him. I am in Vancouver, Bc, Canada. All I have to say is. Great price, great service, awesome products. DN |

20 watt?
Seems like people have had good experiences with this vendor. OP, any reason you opted for the 10w set when the 20w set is only $10 more? Seems like a lot of the vendors here on the forums have these "new" 20w Cree led AEs ranging from $80-150, safe to guess these are all likely from the same original supplier/manufacturer and function about the same?
Main question I and others likely have is if these kits have heat issues in the light housing and if there is any radio interference? If these check out, then with a 1yr warranty and literally 25% the cost of LUX...it's a non decision ( even if the brightness is marginally less than LUX imo )

I had these 20w lights installed today
Look amazing, no radio / cell interference, huge heat sinks on the back that make it a GIANT pain in the a## to install. Finally gave up on it and thru a BMW master tech a fifty to install after it took almost an hour

AEs are a pain in the ass to install no matter the brand - I tried installing my Lux v3s for an hour before I gave up and had to get my younger sister to pop them in.
If you have big hands like me, it's really tough, find someone with smaller hands that can get their whole hand into the housing and it's a piece of cake, she did it in about 4 minutes. |

I did mines two nights ago on my E90. That passenger side for some reason is a super PIA. The plastic cover over the AE took me over a half hour to take off. That had to be the hardest part of it though.

Just installed them. Huge heatsinks do make it difficult to put in, but not impossible. I just put them all the way in the headlight housing, then got the tip of the LED in. Took a couple tries to get the threading right as there are 2 large notches and one small, but the red wire should be facing to the sky for each side so it makes it easy to line up. I got them started just barely, then used some pliers to turn them once on. Took 10 minutes for the drivers, little less for the passengers.
Look great. As good as Lux? No, but are Lux's 4x better? Nope. Looks great for the money. |
