HELP with speaker replacement 2011 328i

Hello all,

New member here. I recently purchased a 2011 328i Xdrive (no nav, standard sound) from my friend. Car is in excellent condition except for the front right mid-range speaker is blown. I have a 12" powered subwoofer that I am transferring from my old car to this one. I want to replace the door speaker but it looks like very few (if any) aftermarket 4" speakers fit in the bracket/space.

My plan is to buy a single-din stereo and two 4" coaxial speakers and put those in the front door where the mid-range component speakers are and run those off the stereo amplifier. I want to keep factory amp power to the tweeters and under-seat woofers if possible.

The main issue for me is: Will aftermarket 4" coaxial speakers fit in the front door? And if so, what modifications will I need to make? Thanks to all who take the time to read/respond.

before you commit to anything take a look at https://www.bavsound.com/ Pretty sure our speaker mounts are a bit odd, and usually require modification to mount properly. There are speakers that fit oem with no modifications, like the guys I just recommended

Actually there are plenty of aftermarket kit's made for BMW now
from the likes of Mbquart , Helix Match , Jehnert , Audio systems.
Gladen, Rockford Fosgate, Diamond audio.
Most are made for more watts than the stock amp can put out.

Also you can buy speaker adapters if you can find speakers that
are thin enough.

There is a whole audio subforum on the this forum.

If you have a factory amp there is no easy way or advantage in keeping it.
If you have the hi fi amp it's just plane weak . The logic 7 amp is at 10 perecnt distortion at the rated power.

There were two no pay for it options in 2011 the tweeter less ampless
base system for the first half of the year and the Hi Fi was brought back
in the last half of 2011. The Hi Fi has a small amp and tweeters in the front
door's . You need to find out which you have.

option 676 = Hi Fi
option 677 or 688 = top hi fi or logic 7
neither option = the ampless tweeterless base sound system.

@ctuna

Thank you for this. I have the base stereo, no Hi-fi and no logic 7. I dont want to spend a ton of money on this, I just want decent sound coming from front door speakers and bass will be handled with my powered sub.

Do you suggest buying a small amplifier and just replacing the 4 in door speakers with coaxials and running them off the new amp?

Nobody wants to spend a lot of money but there is no easy way
out . The following thread is the best guide to fixing the base system.
Equipment may vary but the things that need fixing are listed.

The others threads are examples of what others have done.

There is no tagging here .
WTF is tagging .
I would prefer you didn't

If I was doing this now the first thing I would be looking at is a Helix 86 dsp
amp and a set of the there component speakers for the front doors and there
floor speakers for the under seats.
