what is the best way toimport parts from the usa to canada

I need some advice on what is the best way to bring AA headers from the states to here. They retail close to 1000 $ canadian and I dont get burned paying crazy fees.

I had purchased items for 100 $ to have ups knock on my door and demand 80$ in fees which is like 90$ tax to me.

If I have to pay taxes then be it but I dont want to pay more than 13% , anyways I just need some advice from people here.

I was considering sending it to an address to Buffalo but I have never done that before and I m not sure what is the procedure at the border .

I would assume its the same as when flying into the US..after 10k$ in merchandise or cash they tax you..check out the canadian customs website

I do this all the time buying parts from the US. I send them to an address across the border and pick it up. I believe in being totally honest to customs and I have never had to pay any custom fees/duties or taxes. This is even with huge parts like side skirts and lips that barely fit in my car.

As mentioned ship it to a USA address and pick it up. Be honest and tell them the value you purchased the item at and have the invoice to prove it. They you'll get charged base on whatever the item is worth and the category it is (there might be tariff). No of this crazy UPS broker fee.

If you want it shipped up to Canada, see if they can do USPS, or DHL they generally have lower broker fee. Even FedEx might be a little cheaper.

If they make you pay tax and duty, I believe it's 13% tax and 20% duty for auto parts that are not made in North America.

Don't tell them it's a used car part and then show them a shiny header. They've heard it all. I've seen them look things up online to find their value. They can flag you to be checked every time for 7 years if they think you've lied to them.

Duty will vary depending on the country they're made in.

I've used www.usaddressinc.com for about 15 years. Just across the Queenston/Lewiston bridge. I've also had large things sent Fedex freight or ABF freight and picked them up at their respective terminals in Buffalo.

Besides crossing the boarder, try Rockauto.com. They charge tax n duties in front n reasonable shipping. The courier they use don't charge handling fee.

Just ship it with USPS if you can. They'll charge either no brokerage or $5.

Another option is just open your own brokerage account with a customs broker. My customs broker charges $15/shipment compared to $65+ for UPS brokerage, and they charge duty correctly where UPS often does not.

When I have a UPS tracking number, I call them, tell them to re-consign the brokerage paperwork to my broker, and the packages get delivered without having to pay at the door.

I've gone to the states to pick up packages when I had lots of stuff to order at once, but the UPS store I ship them to charges $5/package, so between that and the 2 hours round trip it takes to go there and back the $15 brokerage fee is usually the better option.

You could always take a leisurely drive down to the USA, install your headers over there, ditch or sell the stock parts south of the border then drive back.
Of course, declaring the new parts under the hood (or not) is up to you. The Law says you have to.
