BMW e90 License plate

I'm not able to remove the bolts on my rear license plate on my E90. If the rear license plate needs to be replaced can I use a universal bracket or does it have to be a BMW OEM license plate bracket? Does Canadian Tire universal fit?

I found someone parting out a car and got their bracket. Also check wreckers.

Unsure about universal fitment.
