HID fog lamps?

Hey, so i've had yellow PIAA bulbs in my fogs for some time, and i'm curious about HID fog lamps, most the threads i found were either very old or didn't have the info i was looking for, i'm wondering if anyone here is currently running HID bulbs in their stock fog lamps, which bulbs are good and error-free? I'd probably go for 3000k. They glare, right? If they do, i wouldn't mind, in that case i'd just not use them in traffic, but i'm mainly looking for better light output for my fogs.

TL;DR Which HID bulbs are good and error-free, easy to install in fogs, and how is the beam pattern/glare?
Thanks!

I still run HPB HID in my fog lights. They don't glare too bad as the factory housing is decent. Obviously, without a projector housing, some glare is always apparent.

Sure, even factory halogens produce a little bit of glare, but is it managable? Do you run it in traffic, if so, do other people flash you, or is it blinding/dazzling? How was the install, and what color temp are you running? Is the light output much better than halogens? Sorry for all the questions, i've just never really considered this before and now i really want to try it, any pictures are welcome, whether it's of the car itself, the beam from inside, or the bulbs/install, thanks in advance!

Why not consider one of the newer LED bulbs?

Garage List
Just installed these LEDs for my fogs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VZNXNFV..._8IFXDb4ECSEYT

Throws an error, I messaged the seller and sent me a link to buy the corresponding decoder for less than $1.

Hey Jeff. I am looking at your HPB LED fogs for my 2011 e93 335is. Anyway I have some old LED's in there now but they harddly give me any lumens but they do match the HID AE lights perfect.

Question. I need H11's right? Also not sure to go the 4500 or 6000 lumens?
Any reviews or discussons on this? I like HID's. I run head and fogs on my GMC sport Truck but like the welcome fading lights on the BMW so stayed with LED's.

I’ve been running Morimoto 2 stroke 2.0s(led) in my msport fog light housings for about a year. They improve visibility, the cutoff never goes above 8” on the road, but it extends out pretty far infact, no blinding oncoming cars..never. Nice white to get rid of the dated halogen look.

Thanks for all the replies, but my concern with LED is that they won't get hot enough to melt snow, i live in iceland and winter is starting to creep in, the halogens i currently have in get hot enough to melt snow easily, anyone here ran LEDs in a snowstorm? How did it work?

You'll want to pull your bulb to see if it's H8 or H11. There are some websites that may give you a recommendation but they aren't 100% accurate. Sylvania Bulb Guide is one example.

Well, I guess you're asking how bright do you want your lights?!

A typical halogen bulb is about ~800 Lumens. HID 3200 Lumens. So the difference between 4500 or 6000 would be the output. I personally run 6000's but I always want the brightest lights.
