Beginner help for coding

hey guys,
im looking to have a go at coding my BMW
its a 325d e92 from 2012.

can i be pointed to the best / right physical kit i need to start coding and if anyone has a guide to get started that would be awesome.

from what i can tell to need a cable like this

and the software available on bimmergeeks

just download the standard tools from bimmergeeks and the installation instructions are in the zip
