Convince me to Change my Avatar and Raise Money for Help the Heroes

Hi everybody,

In a recent thread a forum member took exception to my avatar and asked that I change it (click for thread see posts #4, #5 and #9). I personally think that Carjack has gone a little OTT on this but rather than get into a slanging match I thought I might use Carjack's issue to try to raise some money for help for heroes.

The idea is simple. I promise to change my avatar once a running total of +£50.00 has been donated to the help for heroes charity. Conversley if you want me to keep it you can still donate and once the running total reaches -£50.00 I'll promise to keep it. I’ve started the ball rolling by donating £5.00 to keep it. All forum members have to do is:

1. Click on the the link below.
2. Make a donation.
3. Post back how much you’ve donated and indicate whether the donation was to keep or remove (this is purely on trust and can be as little as £1.00)
4. Calculate the running total and place it in your post.
5. Once we reach £50.00 I’ll change my avatar or if we reach -£50.00 I'll promise to keep it.

That's a great idea and I'll support that, the running total can go into a minus so once we reach -50 I'll agree to keep it. (I've changed wording of my original post)

Lets see how much Carjack donates!

Cheers

Have donated £10 for you to KEEP your avatar.

Easiest way to donate is by text message.
Text HERO to 60999 and each text will donate £5 to the charity. To donate £10 as I have done, send two text messages.

Help the Heroes is an amazing charity. Have lost some great friends in the latest war action and anything to help their families out is warmly welcomed.

Much appreciated everyone, another £10.00 and I can keep my avatar and the charity has already benefitted. Carjack could still donate £90.00 and I would have to remove it.

Add another fiver to the collection. Im not bothered either way about the avatar but lets just say to keep it. To be honest I just like any reason to donate as I should do more. Im following Tonys lead and shall send a text shortly. I wonder how much E90post can raise.

Just be careful when texting as I nearly sent GERM instead of HERO as it was the first offering from predictive text

Many thanks, £45.00 now.

To be honest I could have changed the avatar anyway life's too short to be getting upset about things like that. I was a little pissed off that someone took the moral high ground though, after all he doesn't know me or what I've done in the past.

No patriotic sympathy from me. I have a picture when I was 4 standing next to one at the tower of London. I bet he's still standing there!

‘Master Gunner’ your Advatar shows a fallen Guardsman under the title of Long Range Sniper. You and some members think it’s a joke .

But is it really funny when Guardsmen with the British Army out in Afghanistan are under regular long range sniper fire which has caused MANY DEATHS?

It just appals me. I just feel sorry for you and some of the membership.
I am not particularly patriotic, but as an ex soldier, I support our troops 100% plus, whatever it takes.

I will certainly not be contributing to your vote. It should not be there in the first place.
You, as an ex 'Master Gunner' and the Members who support you, should be ashamed.

It is not a joke, but what is a joke is your perverse outlook on things and your refusal to donate to a charity that openly helps the people you 'claim' to support 100%. I strongly suggest you put your money where your mouth is and get a grip on reality.

Why you have chosen to concentrate so vehemently upon Trevs avatar is bizarre in the extreme and what gives you the right to tell him to change his avatar when after all this time, you are the only person who has even commented on it and read something into it, that is simply not there.

It is you who should be ashamed of yourself for thinking such strange thoughts! And who said his avatar is a joke? It appears to be you who sees it that way.

Support our troops whatever it takes.........by putting your hand in your pocket.

Oh and please don't even try and tell me what I should or shouldn't do ok.

Well I'm doing a triathlon on Sunday and all money goes to Help for Heroes.

I'll be doing the sea swim section in lycra tri shorts which will do very little to hide the fact that cold water + manhood = deeply unimpressive
