Lost my virginity to a bmw 320i
Hi Guys,
This is my first time on the BMW modding scene. Hope I dont sound too much of a novice. My car is a 2007 bmw 320i steptronic executive with 53000kms. First time luxury and bmw. Used to be into Japanese and Korean cars but would never turn back. 'A person that modifies will always modify' - i found that this disease spreads like wild fire. When i bought this car i told my wife that there wouldnt be anything done to it. Yeh sure... Just changed the stock ugly audio to a Clarion VX402a Multimedia Function from Autobarn. Found something online and they beat the price! Originally with no sale it was $520. Discounted to $448 Going to change the rims soon. Maybe to another eh2 rim with run flats. These are some of the pros and cons i thought since buying a bmw. Pros: -Luxury -low kms for a used car -well kept internally by previous -can still do my regular servicing at home Cons: -arm and a leg for major and minor services. -previous owner didnt really do the proper service- went to rushcutters bay -always worried about my car getting robbed. What I would like to ask you guys: - what would you do in this case? Stick to only wheels and audio systems? Make the car look stock and clean? - where is a cheap place to buy xenons? Or angel eye conversions? Is it really true that the access to these headlights are behind the wheel (in the wheel well?!) Are silver rims nice on a silver car? Trying to get some msport 19". I thought of black but i dont think ill add anything else black around the car. Any suggestions? Cheers, John |

welcome. I'm a big fan of stock and clean look, and with a 320 don't really see any point of doing any performace mods, maybe an exhaust and intake and leave it at that. I would personally focus more on visual mods. Thing like the angel eyes and xenons like you mentioned. Also lower it on a nice set of either M Sport or OEM looking wheels, black line tail lights, front lip, maybe M Sport body kit or even M3 front etc etc.

I understand the low performance on the 320i (plus mine is a 4 cylinder ) Instead of the msport body kits which will be in the thousands What do u all reckon: will this look good on a bmw e90? |

IMO those universal lips can look ok on some cars (first found out about it on the Lexus forums). I think it all depends on the design of the front bar, I know on my E92 M Sport it would look like shit because the bottom of the bar isn't flat/smooth/straight.
IMO I think you should do Xenon and Angel Eye conversion ASAP because BMW's with halogens just don't loook like BMW's! haha |

you can get the M3 kit or the M Sport kit from one of the vendors here, quite cheap IMO but need to get it painted. Have a look through all the E90 builds on here (American site is probably better) and just go through and pick out things you like about each build and go from there, that's what I did before getting my car

Wheels are a good mod, as they're not permanent and easily resold.
Black wheels attract too much attention, and silver wheels more look original in my opinion. Also, look around the forums at opinions on run-flat tyres vs. regular tyres. You can get a lot better value in regular tyres, there's more options (and rims need to be run-flat compatible too). A lot of people get a tyre repair kit (tyre slime + 12v compressor) and just run regular tyres. |

Id hate to be stuck roadside and filling the tyre with slime etc. I heard its a smoother ride without rfs But my worry is stuffing up suspension. What do u recommend yourself? What do u have on ur car? |

If you are staying with runflats, stick with the Bridgestone (RE050A or S001) RFT as they are the only legally repairable runflats.

I've also got RACV total care, so if I were to have problems they'll tow me anywhere. And yes, the ride is smoother relatively speaking, as the sidewalls have more flexibility and cushion the ride better. |
