335D EGR block off plate
Hi guys,
I've tried to do research on this and haven't gotten anywhere. i bought a downpipe for me 335D that is EGR and DPF deleted. can i put that in and just use a blanking plate on the EGR line that comes off the downpipe? or would i HAVE to do a full delete on EGR cooler and all? Thanks i'm advance for the help |

I think you've got your terms all messed up. There is no EGR connection from the downpipe. The connection that goes to the EGR cooler comes from the manifold itself which remains untouched during a delete (Other then maybe using a blocker plate and removing the EGR cooler altogether).

You don't have to do anything. You can leave everything in place, the EGR is disabled by tuning. Or you can install a block off plate, cap some coolant lines and remove the cooler/EGR altogether. You've got some options.

here is the link to the one i bought. maybe you can take a look at it and help me out. it's just a standard blanking plate for the EGR https://motorgenic.com/8mm-egr-valve...kaAoAhEALw_wcB |

Nictobin - As Linxguy said, Anything you do will be fine. When you tune the car for the EGR delete, the EGR will remain closed and you gain nothing by installing a blank off plate. Or you can install a blank off plate on either end of the EGR. At the exhaust manifold, at the intake just before the throttle plate, or both. I would be leary of installing plates without removing the cooler because there is no room for plates and you could cause stress loading on the cooler and cause it to crack do to the extra room needed to install the plates. The EGR coolers have been known to crack already due to stresses from heating up and cooling down (expand when hot - shrink when cool down). I think most people just remove the EGR cooler and block off the coolant lines going to the EGR cooler.

Which EGR delete kit do you have? You'd be much better off leaving everything as is and getting a proper kit that will delete the EGR + cooler and come with all necessary block off plates/caps to do the job properly. I ran my fully deleted car with all the EGR crap in place for 100k, zero issues.

Would it be possible to install EGR blanking kit with egr cooler still mounted?
In europe there are very restrictive law with this systems. So my plan (as my EGR Cooler is broken and maybe leaking) is Remap ECU and turn EGR off, but also installing the Delete EGR kit (blanking plates and caps for coolant line) Could it be possible? o i need to remove egr cooler to install the kit? Thanks |

Was suspecting that... So If I turn the EGR off by tuning de ECU, and my EGR Cooler is leaking a little bit... What could happen? Exhaust is not getting over the cooler, so i guess the coolant leak will stay inside the cooler and getting into the intake manifold? |

You could cap the lines so no coolant is getting into the cooler at all. Are you worried about failing a visual inspection?
