Great video Socks. If you are still looking for another project on your car, you should work on cleaning up the engine bay to match the rest of the car. I know that is easier said than done.

The seat bolsters are scuffed up pretty bad with the stitching starting to come apart. Too far gone to buff out. So off to Pro Street Interiors for some new leather panels
Repairs were done using OEM black novillo leather, with 5 panels and foam inserts replaced and double stitched to match the original seat Total cost was $700 Sounds expensive but is actually pretty reasonable given all the work involved Should last another 10 years before needing to be done again Pics below Pics 1 to 3 - Before Pics 4 to 6 - After |

Nice - I've got scuffing on my driver's bolster too that I've been thinking about getting repaired at some point. $700 does sound like a good deal for the amount of work done.
I've had my sport seats for the e30 quoted for a reupholster and was looking at $2.5k for just the fronts. |

Relocated mids to the pillars
Regular readers will know that I have been working on the sound system in this car for a couple of years now, going through several different layouts. In this most recent version, had the tweeters in the sails and the mids in the door panel OEM location The problem was the sound stage was buried under the dash and everything sounded kinda muddy. Not wanting to sink any more $ into the stereo build, I had a go at moving the mids up onto the pillars myself. Unfortunately i'm not talented enough to make real mounted pillars, so I reused the ball and socket speaker pods. Probably not everyones taste, but they were pretty easy to mount and work really well Sound stage is up high and sounding much brighter Pics and a short demo vid below.... enjoy |

Spent the afternoon with Jay Standerwick from Phatt Audio who is one of Melbournes top car audio tuners. He took a look at the tune I have been working on for months and showed me how to fix issues with time alignment, phase and levels
Then he walked me through his tuning process and knocked out a full tune in under 2 hours His tune sounds amazing, crystal clear and a stage that is rock solid I learnt more about tuning from Jay in an afternoon then from months of reading and experimenting. Really appreciate his generosity in taking the time to share his experience and answer all my newbie questions. Armed with a heap of new knowledge, I was able to polish up my own spcgry tune.... came out ok for an amateur |

Yep is my first proper track day mate. I did a day at the Haunted hills track out at Moe, but that was a very tight circuit an only one car on the track at a time so that doesn't really count lol

Had a great day at Winton raceway yesterday with my good friend Vincent Lim.
Weather was perfect and with only 7 cars on the track at a time, it was great conditions for my first track day. The instructors from evolve driving were awesome and I was soon racing around the track.... Gary performed flawlessly, no breakdowns, oil leaks or anything so got to be happy with that and I finished the day with a best time of 1.54 Vince set a new personal best on the track (1.39) and would have probably shaving a few more seconds off that if it wasn't for a overheating problem Was hoping to get some footage from my dash cam from the day, but the vid files were corrupted, (avoid blackview dash cams folks... total rubbish) so the only footage I have is a couple of pics and a flyby of vince in his 135i (see below) All in all a great day Pic 1 - Mandatory group shot at the start of the day Pic 2 - Vinces 135i cooling down between sessions Pic 3 - SPCGRY doing the same Pic 4 & 5 - Waiting for the next track session Vid - Vince on the main straight at Winton raceway |
