Updating GM transmission

Sorry in advance for yet another thread about some idiot not knowing how to use WinKFP, but I have searched high and low and am at the point where I'm running into a wall.

Hoping 808AWD325xi can chime in and let me know whether I should even bother trying to proceed, or just concede defeat and take to a shop... I'd rather not create issues where there are none.

This thread has been very helpful, and I suspect I'm having a similar issue to the OP...
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1363517

I've attached my vehicle data and UIF data, which appears to have been of benefit in the referenced post.

To summarize, I'm attempting to update EGS / GM1912 module in comfort mode, and WinKFP is suggesting the same ZB number that is currently programmed to it.

V63.0 daten

Let me know if you need any additional information. Basically what I'm looking for is confirmation that something isn't right/was done incorrectly in the past; or, if this isn't the case, then it means I must be doing something wrong...

Some other modules do appear to suggest newer ZB numbers, but not GM1912.

Edit: How much stock should I put in the FindECU utility with regard to suggesting new ZB #'s? For example, when I input my current EGS ZB # with my VIN, I get nothing. But when I select 'Search w/o VIN' then I net 12 results... Maybe I'm just totally out to lunch and the latest software is already loaded?

What's your EGS HW Number? Also, what DCAN cable are you using? This is important as if it doesn't have the latest firmware it's likely to brick your EGS.

Thank you very much for the reply!

I'm using the BG cable, which I purchased specifically because it is known to have firmware that works for flashing GM1912.

As for HW number, I've looked at the data I have and am not entirely sure what this refers to. Is this part number? Or HwI? Either way, I've attached a few data files that will hopefully contain what you need. If not, let me know and I'll get it asap.

Anyone? Would be willing to make a donation to someone for advising me on the process, assuming it's doable.

Thx

have you contacted bimmergeeks?

they can terminal into your machine and do it for you for a reasonable price. I've found the guy running it to be super cool.

Funny you should ask...

Yes, I did. And after describing my situation in good detail, and asking multiple questions (one related to something else entirely), I got this response:

Quote:
They only thing you could really try is updating the software.
Obviously I was a bit surprised at how little effort was put into the response, especially after all the good things I’ve heard about them.

I’ve worked in sales before, and was equally surprised that I was not offered any services. Maybe my first email was too scattered, I thought. And so I replied and explicitly asked whether they offer a service to update this module.

Crickets...

Either the guy who helped you had the day off, quit, or was fired, because I’m pretty sure it wasn’t him on the other end.

Yes. Since then I flashed my own transmission. At the time this post was made I had owned my car for a relatively short period of time and didn’t know much about it.

Neither software updates nor putting in a Zip Kit (minus the PR valve, which in all honestly probably would have made the biggest difference) fixed my drive ability issues, so I threw the GM into the trash and put in a manual instead .
