07 328i E92 N52 Maintenance

Hello,

just bought a 07 328i. I'm thinking of doing some maintenance to the car as it has 118 miles/180km. I was able to change:

Transmission oil pan gasket and filter
a/c compress drive belt tensionser
brake pads
(as per receipt of auto shop)

next few things I plan on changing are

spark plugs
coils
timing chain
solenoids
should i replace all gaskets (engine oil filter, valve cover, intake manifold)?
should i also be replacing radiator hose as well?

what would you guys recommend?

thanks!

Why are you replacing the timing chain? These cars don't really have history of broken timing chains/guides. Some 07/08/09s have cam ledge bearing wear issues. Do you get vanos codes?

At that mileage you should do:

1. Waterpump/Thermostat +hoses
2. Vanos check valves ~$40 each.
3. No reason to replace the gaskets if they're not leaking. Check the function of your integrated valve cover PCV by opening the oil cap while the car is running and check for suction.
4. If you're doing hoses, change out the expansion tank which is known to crack. Cheap
5. PS Fluid + reservoir, Brake fluid, differential fluid.
6. If you really want to do your oil filter housing gasket, change out the mickey mouse flange for a metal one.

where would I find the vanos codes? vanos check valves and solenoids are the same thing?

do you have a part number or link for or a link for a metal oil filter housing gasket?

sorry. new to all this.

Look up how to get INPA (free diagnostic software), get a basic dkan cable, and scan your car to see if any codes show up. You'd also be able to see live intake/exhaust cam adjustments. If they're adjusting while you gas the car, you don't have to replace the solenoids. If they're not adjusting, could be solenoids, check valve, or in the worst possible case, cam bearing ledges.

Solenoid:

Flange (The plastic one might break when removing. It's a solid upgrade):

Use realoem.com to double check part numbers when ordering parts. Flange is #10 in my car for example,
