Sirius Retrofit Coding

Hey All,
so i am looking to retrofit a Sirius receiver, i have package 693, Prep for sirius, but do not have the receiver in the trunk. for reference its an 09 328, No navigation or Idrive just the BMW professional head unit. im actually already using the shark fin antenna for the external siruis player i have.

ive been doing alot of research on it and from what i can tell i just need to install the receiver and have it coded. my local salvage yard has a few of them for around 100 bucks, but im having some issues with the coding. I do have Ista+, NCS, and such, but i only have the KDcan cable - i dont have a ICOM or power supply, so i would rather just have a dealer do it. So, before buying the receiver, i called my local BMW dealer and they werent 100% sure if they could do it or what to actually do, but they said they could try.

what exactly does the dealer need to "DO" to code it? could someone explain the process of what the tech would need to do? from what i read you just need to change the 693 to ?

thanks

You don't need an ICOM to program a Sirius module. There are a bunch of DIYs on this site that step you through it.

I'll have to do more research on it in that case. I thought an icom was required for programming on the e90's. I'm not too familiar with coding so the threads I found weren't very helpful, I found one that was for coding Sirius with out the prep package. Thanks

K+DCAN cable is all that's needed and the proper software.

Yes I just read that lol. So a while ago when I was looking in to getting ISTA and all the other software, I read that the e46 used the k/d Can cable and the e90 used k/d can for diagnostics but needed the ICOM for programming. So I thought I needed the icom. I just read a post somewhere that explained it a little clearer - k/d can for diagnostics and Coding, but Icom form programming. I misunderstood it when I read that a while back. So it looks like I am good to do it myself, still a little intimidated, but I've been searching and reading as much as I can on how to do it.

You need K/Dcan cable and NCS expert to retrofit SiriusXM for E90s, no ICOM, period

there is infor that the Icom is necessary for most bus modules.
This mostly came up when people where trying to change the
Head Unit programming from base system to Hi Fi.

If the K/D Can is all I need that would be great, and I'll attempt it myself. I guess at the time of initial research I didn't realize coding and programming were 2 different things lol. It does seem like changing the VO is a pretty simple procedure tho.
As I research I keep seeing "fsc codes" come up in conversation. Is that something I need to look into as well?
