335is FINALLY smoggable after 4 months!

Some of you may remember my previous threads about not being able to smog my car. After removing all my performance parts and uninstalling MHD software, the O2 sensor would not show as ready no matter what I would do. And countless drive cycles and reset adaptions later still it wasn't ready. Took the car to the BMW dealership and they updated my DME to the latest software and the O2 is finally ready thank God. I'm so happy now that I can finally drive my car again. It's been unregistered since October. So if any of you run into this problem, updating the software may be your only option. Another member told me to do this months ago, and I should have done it sooner. Now it's time to put the parts back on. I've been buying a ton of bolt ons and can't wait to install them 🥳

Glad to hear your car is running again. 4 months is a long time.

How much did you pay the dealer?

About $550 but that's because they did diagnostic work and a drive cycle before trying the software update. The software and drive cycle after costed almost $300.

To anyone concerned, this is the latest software for the 335is models. In case anyone else is having trouble with smog after running a tune. The dealership said I wasn't the first person who couldnt get my O2 ready after an MHD tune.

Geez, i'm having the exact same issue since October and was planning to uninstall MHD completely and try the drive cycles again. Although I have both Catalyst and O2 as Incomplete. If I can just get the catalyst ready then I can pass since they allow 1 not ready.

I also downloaded BMW tools to try and update it myself but a bit nervous to mess things up. Maybe I can find an indy to do it for cheaper.

Is the "current software" the latest? Mine is 8635266 currently.

Thanks to slim and ///S58 my car is ready to be inspected.

I also had the same issue...02 sensors would not set ready. MHD completely uninstalled and did almost 1000 miles doing the bmw drive cycle. Everything else went ready except the 02 sensors and EVAP. I was ready to put new o2 sensors. Had the DME updated at the dealer and the 02 sensors set after 1 drive cycle. So I would also suggest doing this option.

I also have a 335is. And yes what slim posted is the latest software version.

you guys should bring this to the attention of MHD, so maybe they can possible get the latest file into their server so no one else has this issue? Seems to only be an issue with the "is" software, which is different than the regular 335i.

Good idea. I was in contact with them while I was having the smog trouble so I'll shoot them an email about it.

Instead in the future you should look into installing a DP fix on your car. A guy sells it on ebay for around 40$ and it takes 20 mins to plug into dme. I completed one drive cycle and was able to smog with decat dp even in california

I have the downpipe fix. O2 sensors would not set for me until my DME was updated.

I feel like since the downpipes are so damn loud on the 335is models, once the smog tech fires the car up it'll be game over. That's why I removed them prior to smog, along with all the rest of my bolt ons.

With our cars they will only check OBDII and visually inspect your car. It could smell like shit but if you passed those you're good. I also passed smog with a chargepipe
