Thanks for sharing. I managed to update. Just a tip that might help people, when you extract the files copy the 2 files from NAVD_000004D6_255_004_002 onto the root of the drive and plug in. First time I tried the 2 files were in this folder and didn't detect. When I copied the 2 onto root it starting updating straight away. Legend roger9546

Just a quick question, will this update method (glovebox USB) and FSC generated using the tools provided in this thread and latest maps (NAVD_000004D6xxxxx) be a straight upgrade for a 2011 E90 LCI that has the "S606 Navigation System Business" with maps from that vintage? Or does it need to have been a 'Premium' factory map option?

I am comforatble with the process, but would like some guidance if this update will work on my car before I inadvertently spend the time trying something that is not going to work.

Cheers!

These maps will only work for CIC systems with Professional nav (PREMIUM). They will not work for CIC Business nav (MOTION).
For Buisness nav, you'll need to find MOTION maps for AU/NZ. You can check your current maps version using iDrive.

Just in case anyone wants to buy the maps cheap. I have purchased my maps here and everything works as expected.

Thanks Roger, I am glad I found this post. My old map was 2018, a lot is changed in 2 years. Apparently I have a fsc for live, because I didn't need to fill in anything. It was 10 minute et voila, a new map installed

I've tested it working this afternoon on my own car. I already had a lifetime fsc code generated so I wasn't prompted to input one.

The file is in a .tar format but it'll unzip the same as usual using 7-zip or a similar program.

You ripper! Successfully installed with no problems at all. Had to enter a code on install, this time generated new code with lifetime code. Thanks again!

After the convenient issue of having the CIC drive die when first attempting this finally got around to trying the update again. Wasn't happy the first time but formatted the USB and tried again and success. Thanks again

Premium AU Map Update Issue

Hi All,

I have been attempting to update the maps on my 2010 325i (Build Date 04/10) without success. I have purchased maps and FSC code, downloaded and extracted onto a 32gb USB stick however my CIC unit fails to acknowledge the updates and nothing happens. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are you using the glovebox USB port?
Do you have a PREMIUM or MOTION map?

Retrofitted CIC Map Update

Hi guys,

I've been going through these comments and trying to figure out what else I can do to make this work but I keep getting an incorrect code message on my idrive.

I have a retrofitted professional CIC system which I am told was activated using fsc code (purchased from 'bmwglobalseller' on eBay from Latvia. It is coded to my VIN and currently has 2019 maps.
I have successfully extracted the 1b file and I can generate a normal and lifetime code however my car won't accept it.

From looking at the 1b file with a hex editor it looks to be fine?

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated - trying to update to the 2020 maps.

Check using Tool32 if it has been virginised - CICR will give the HU VIN.

Have attempted to update maps a number of times and all to no good.
Should the config only be 1 kb ??
Or is that where the file is corrupted?

Yep, the config.nfm should be 1KB (if you highlight the file, it's actually 237 bytes).

Make sure to copy the CONTENTS (config.nfm file and 'pkgdb' folder) to the root of a 8GB FAT32 formatted (NOT exFAT) USB drive. Then insert USB into the Glovebox USB Port (not the armrest USB Port).
