All of a sudden my welcome lights on my E92 LCI have stopped working.

They are enabled in the iDrive menu and I have tried with the light switch in auto, 0 and fully on modes, when it has been dark outside.

The only lights that come on when unlocking the doors are the door handle lights.

Any ideas?

+1 on the battery, other things will start to not work like the rear screen demister, bang in a new battery and all will be well again.

Thanks for the info. The battery low message did pop up fairly recently so seems to make sense.

Cotwolds BMW just quoted me £102 for a new battery, shame I needed it today and paid £185 at eurocarparts for a AGM batter

£102 seems like a good price - includes fitting? Is there a difference between batteries used in start/stop cars and non-start/stop cars?

Which is the right one from Eurocarparts. When typing in my reg, some of them are £390, like this one:

ECP have a discount code on at the minute, £102 wasn't fitted or coded as I am miles away from them. head over their thread in the classified section and ask them what battery is needed for yours.

Or one of these perhaps - Ctek MXS 5.0 (for AGM batteries).
Still edging towards buying anew battery though!

The cold weather also makes batteries perform worse.
I'm about due a new one myself. Had the low battery warning and the lights not coming on. Not ideal during these shorter days and longer nights. used the CTEK on it over night.

My door lights and cabin lights come on but the headlights don't, despite the option day time lights being on in the lights setting... I've not had any battery related lights on the dash come up either.

Hi guys,

I know this is a fairly old thread now, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any other issues related to the welcome lights?

Just recently mine have stopped coming on (the door handle lights still come on, number plate light flashes and goes off, no front lights). Along with this I periodically get a clock/date reset which also dumps all the avg MPG/MPH/trip info. I have had a service indicator come on (went away again), a couple of days ago I had a low oil warning, when I checked again a few mins later it was full again (luckily I didn't fill it). The infotainment screen keeps reverting back to the NAV every time I get i the car (it used to stay on whatever screen I left it on) and the stop/start doesn't work. Cant think off the top of my head if anything else has happened but it's quite an extensive list.

Could all this be linked to a battery on it's last legs or am i looking at something more sinister?

I fitted a Bosch 95ah battery to mine in March ‘18. I went for this because it was a higher spec than the one fitted so bigger is better right? Well, I think not because it’s dying already. My welcome lights have started not coming on and the heated seats and rear window don’t always work. I got it from ECP through eBay so might give them a call and see if it’s still in warranty.

Did you register/code the battery when you fitted it?
If replacing like for like it’ll need registering & if it’s different from the one being replaced it’ll need to be coded so as the intelligent charging system can charge the battery correctly.
