RE: Road Top Carplay MMI unit installation with Aftermarket Front & Rear cameras.
335i e92 2012 with iDrive CIC 8.8 screen

Everything else works fine, but the unit appears to not be able to detect when the car is in reverse or PDC is on??
The unit can power the cameras, as I have tested this by providing 12v to the signal wire, but otherwise it appears not to be able to tell when the car is in reverse gear or when PDC is on!

So, I need to provide a signal wire, upto 12v, when the car is in reverse or when PDC button is pressed, where can I get this from? ideally from behind the head unit.

Just to note, I had a basic MMI system before which I'm replacing & this worked fine with the cameras.

Can't say for certain as I'm not sure on the menu system on yours, but if you take a look at this video (skip to 23:38) and I show how to set up for reversing camera.....

The reverse should be picked up via the canbus system, hence why my one is set to "Reverse Line Detect = OFF", this means it's not looking for a signal wire back from the camera, just the car's own system telling it that you've placed it into reverse (hope that makes sense).
Oh and yes I know I'm in the E9x forum CIC systems are the same.
