Car over revving

I've been searching for the answer for quite some time but everything I find points to an automatic car. My car is no longer under warranty so bringing to the dealership is out of the question unless I know why I'm bringing it there.

The problem is recently, about 4 days ago. I noticed when accelerating heavily the rpms jumped about 2k rpms before the car begun to gain speed. Originally it was only noticeable when pushing the pedal about 75% or greater.

After driving today I noticed the rpms increase slightly more, about 2500 rpm, before accelerating. It also does this with light pressure on the gas pedal.

Its a 2007 328xi Manual Transmission. The clutch was changed about 10k miles ago as well as a tune up about 5k miles ago.

You're not going to like my guess. Your clutch is slipping.

That's the only thing that seems to be plausible unfortunately.

Clutch slippage. Sounds like the clutch is bad, or the release bearing was installed in the wrong position.

Also, just make note that your release bearing is being installed in the correct position. There's a high and low position. I believe US cars use the low position. Not sure why, but I read of premature clutch slippage from US cars using the high setting for the release bearing.
