Roof Rack (Mountain Bike)

I need a roof rack system to carry my two bike around.

Anyone in Canada put together a roof rack for an E90 in Canada. I had a very nice setup for my S4 but there seems to be nothing for the E90 from Yakima (Which I find crazy) There are a few posts about people who are putting racks together with BMW base systems and Thule stuff.

Looking for some Canadian Content here.

Any thoughts?

thanks very much, your car looks amazing, with or without the roofrack

if you don't mind, what did it cost you?

I am often in the US and could order it and get it down there from a dealer

thanks

The whole setup cost about $460. That included the base rack and two bike carriers.

Nin1616, I see you have your mtn bike attached via fork mount. Did you get the "Racing Cycle Holder" for this? The name implies that it's for road bikes, but their "mountain bike" carrier is for upright transport, which I don't want. Just want to make sure that "Racing Cycle Holder" will handle MTB.

Edit: I just found in another post that you said the part # was 82-72-0-393-083. Just want to verify that it came with that tray... in the pictures on bmwusa.com they don't show it with a tray.

Thanks,
Mike

It does come with the tray. The picture in the accessory catalog is not accurate.

Thule makes a roof rack for the E90 but for some reason they do not sell it in North America. I ordered one from a UK Thule dealer. Works fine.

Thanks

The fork mount tray is very easy to remove. Takes about 30 seconds, you just have to loosen 3 bolts.

How hard is it to take off and put on the bars that attach to the car roof. Any concern about damage to the roof?

awesome thanks. I was thinking that I would be forced to get the split rear seat option if the roof rack didnt work and throwing it in there. So all those parts are availible from the dealer then?

Those are pretty easy to install and remove also. There are 4 bolts holding it in place. There is no damage to the roof.

All the parts are available at the dealer. It takes about 2-3 days for them to come in once ordered.

Would you mind taking a picture of how it is attached to the roof?
