on the speed front a 997 TT isnt that much faster, it is faster from a standing start it pulls about 3/4 car lengths but over 100 the M6 is faster check out gustav on m5/6 board.com they post youtube videos form a 50kmh rolling start. You'll be suprised how fast the car really is.

id probb choose the 997tt cross county as the 997 has mega breakes and much better traction. The m6's week point is the breakes. If it had carbon stoppers it would be a mighty tool.

That's the only thing that puts me off the really big power cars. It's not you can't afford the petrol, you factor it in over the year and it seems reasonable... its seeing that petrol gauge drop everytime you put your foot down, and having to fill up every five minutes. Makes it feel worse than it probably is.

ETA: ... and nice car Palmball. Love the interiors, but just couldn't get along with the front and rear, but each to their own. Wish someone would come up with a mild bodykit for them just to replace the boot, like vorsteiner do with the e92.

Trixman, that's exactly what happened to me with the Maserati, it wasn't that you couldn't afford the fuel, it's just after a while it wore me down and annoyed me the amount of cash going into the tank. I vowed never to go bigger than a V6 again (I didn't limit the number of turbos though ). I suppose if you love the car you'd keep going (I didn't )

Any luck with the dealer Palmball?? Surely they've got to put it right without any question or a debate.

Erm, in a word, YES!!!! I averaged 12mpg but remember getting 8mpg on a spirited drive. On a long journey you could just see the fuel gauge move from full to empty a little too quickly for my liking. BUT, it sounded great!!! The sound was one of the few things I liked about it.

Just been to Sytners and frankly I can't fault them.

They have ordered me a new door card which will take about 3 weeks to arrive. And the cost to them? £1400 + fitting. Madness. They said they have now lost money on the deal...whether they have or haven't I'm sure this has eaten away at the profit margin.

They checked the cars' history and there's been no warranty claim for the door trim and the door looks totally original so is unlikely to have been in an accident. Therefore, they have concluded that the car came out of the factory with the wrong one. I cannot believe the first owner didn't notice it.

You are lucky to get 16.5mpg - must be really cruising I only get 12 in mine averagely and if you put your foot down sometimes, its well below 10mpg

12mpg?? In an M3!!....you gotta have that gas pedal pinned to the floor most of the time!

I didn't exactly hang about in my M3 and always got between 16-21mpg...you must drive it very very fast!

My 16.5mpg in the M6 was done predominately by cruising at 80-100mph for about 80% of the miles I did so I guess the engine was relatively unstressed.

I don't imagine it will stay much above 15mpg in the long run though!

It's the whole door card - it sits right up against the dashboard. I'm now driving my girlfriend mad lol!

Now, I think the interior looks almost new with little wear on the leather (i.e it's not shiny) so it should be OK!

Oh, they're doing the whole door card! Hmm, I know.........your dash as per mine is leather yes? Think about it - the top of the dash cannot hep but change colour slightly because it's exposed to more uv rays but the door cards will only be subjected to a more indirect or pools of uv rays, so by that reckoning it won't matter 'cos they'd be uneven in colour tone anyhow - sorted!

My exhausts are a bit black as well on part of the edges, but I'm getting there with them over a period of 'passes' with the autosol metal polish. Errrm, what else.........oh yes, down to 21.6 mpg now as I had a play on the way home from work and for the first time put it in sport chrono mode on some country roads (only done so on the motorway so far). OMG Nearly let go of the steering wheel at one point as it was being ripped out of my little digits. Just ballistic. Point being..........these high performance cars are awesome.......so enjoy eh.

911 turbo ... 21.6 MPG either you aren't really trying (somehow I don't think this is the case ) OR life is wholey unfair ... MR2T = 16 MPG just love telling the greenies that as well, slightly disappointed at filling up all the time though it has a fairly small tank.

Can I join performance car people, not much faster than mine when my car was made in the early 90's
