New M6 :)
It seemed like a very long week waiting to pick the M6 up and I'm now an EXTREMELY happy chappy (I can't beleive I didn't try and buy one in the first place!).
First of all, it's definately not as bold or as aggressive as M3 on the outside and I will miss the looks. It's much more understated. However, inside it is fantastic...the full leather interior cocoons you and looks great. It's also very, very well built with absolutelty no rattles, clicks, buzzing or vibrations; as many of you will know from my other posts, I'm extremely anal about stuff like that so this is good news. The TV funtion is OK but reception isn't brilliant. Also, my M3 had Individual Audio and I thought that going back to Logic-7 would be a BIG step backwards. It isn't...but I'll highlight the differences on a specific post as I can now answer questions that I was asking when I was considering whether to spec Individual Audio on the M3. I am, however, loving the comfort access - I've never had this before and it's very good! Performance wise, it's a MONSTER . I can't image much else being quicker in a straight line however it's definately not as sharp as the M3 when turning into bends or roundabouts; you can feel a little bit more inertia to overcome when you first turn the wheel and I guess this is as a result of the extra weight. It is much, much quieter than the M3; this is neither good nor bad as it depends on my mood but it's a bigger difference than I imagined between the two. And finally...the sound. I can't quite see how people say it sounds like a diesel on start up as I think this engine sounds awesome; so much more bassy than the M3 at all revs and a lovely deep background humming when you're cruising. Things haven't been perfect however; not with the car but with the preparation. Firstly, the dealers just can't prep a car to my standards so I spent all of yesterday making it look perfect; nothing less would do for posting up on this forum! Secondly, in trying to take the wheels off to polish behind them (yes...really!) I managed to snap the locking wheelnut key It seems the nuts were on that tight but either I'm very strong or the key wasn't up to the job! Luckily no damage has been done to the actual nut so I just need to order another key. And thirdly and most importantly; the car has the full leather option so no part of the interior has (or should have!) any plastic. It's all leather or suede. However, it appears something has gone wrong with my particular car. The drivers side door trim is a standard plastic one which is unlike the rest of the interior, including the passenger door trim which is full leather. Now, obviously this means it doesn't match the other door trim or the dashboard that it blends into so I'm taking it back tomorrow to get this sorted. I'm not really sure how this could have happened; it's an almighty balls up either by the factory when it was built or at a later stage if it was replaced. Mmm...that will be interesting. Here's some photo's - all detailed with my new Swissvax Blau-Weisse! |

Andrew! What a car!!!
I love it, and in that colour, looks the absolute dogs! Strange about the door trim tho? What level of detail did it require - just a good clean or have you had to polish out swirls, etc? It looks BRAND NEW now, it really does. Enjoy |

Very nice car I am really pleased for you. Not sure about the trim, it's a longb shot but maybe the drivers side is plastic because it is likely to get most wear and tear and hence is like that from the factory?
If you pick up an M6 price list they normally give all the interior information by panel and this should answer you question.

T-Bone UK spec M6 dont have the charcoal filters. Regarding the interior door panel, maybe it was replaced with the wront one??

Very nice and awesome bit of Kit hope you get the small problem sorted with Sytners Leicester (I won’t use them unless I gave to)
I’ll keep a look out for you as I’m only down the road so If you see a Black 911 sitting on your bumper you’ll realise that the new PDK gearbox Porsche like the turbo’s are faster than an M6 And I'm getting nearly 25 mpg

Anyone know what the bodykit options are for M6 ? I'd love one of these but would have to tweak the nose SJ |

Now that does look nice - congrats. Really like the interior and as Paul said understated but classy. Very nice colour as well.
Seems a bit strange about the drivers door panel. Hope you get it sorted ok. Quote:
I got 24.3 mpg to Leeds and back last week (LED sidelight had turned from white to orange - they changed it FOC). Dropped to 22 mpg now work and back. |
