SMITHRITE GARBAGE TRUCK vs BMW e90
What a great way to start a morning.
My car like always, is parked on the street right in front of my house. (My parents won't let me park in the garage because they want to keep the table tennis table and their car) (and driveway is taken by the van) ANYWHOOOOO today is garbage day in North side of Coquitlam and we are on a cul-de-sac and last night a huge U-Haul truck (biggest of its kind) decides to park infront of my car in already crowded cul-de-sac. This morning, door bell rings, Smithrite truck driver was backing into culdesac and could not see my tiny car because of the huge UHAUL and scraped my driver side front panel and front door. nice enough to ring the bell rather than take off.......... i guess..... I would rather he just not hit me.......... so there is how i started my morning. ANY recommendation on GVA body shops that actually do a good job?? that is ICBC approved? thanks for any input. |

korva, lot of people recommended their shop.
When I brought my car in due to minor dent on bumper, I saw high end luxury cars there like ferrari, m3, aston martin etc..... They sure charge expensive, but was worth it. |

Yea i did some search.. KORVA seems to b very popular...
I just cant get all the way there... I would go if they were gonna replace the panels and the doors instead of patching it up. |

Also, like the person above me noted, you are extremely lucky that guy did not hit your car and just leave. Anyhow, sorry to hear. Hope you get it fixed, and I hope your parents move the ping pong table elsewhere!! |

My two cents: Why drive a BMW if you still live with your parents? Perhaps a dumb question for this forum, but I'm hoping they bought it for you or your bank account is stacked ready to buy your own house.
Too bad about the damage though...at least the guy was nice to take the time to inform you and accept blame. |

^^^why does everyone on this board have to be so goddamn judgemental of other people's living/money spending situations???
i'm 26, live at home, have a full-time, professional career, make excellent money, and comfortably pay for my 335i. i've already had more than one person on this board comment negatively on the fact that i bought a BMW before buying a house. WHAT DOES IT MATTER TO YOU?! just DO YOU, and stop worrying so goddamn much about how other people are living their lives!! OP - good luck.

The beauty of capitalism ... you are free to make your own choices with your money ... (as long as you don't whine about not receiving a gov't handout and complain that you're part of "the 99%") |

There is more to purchasing a house than just one's financial situation. I know you know this.

That's a lot of anger, caps and all.
I said maybe it's a dumb question, and you do see it is that, fair enough. However, my logic is that it's unfortunate that the car had to be parked on the street as the parents opted to put a ping-pong table in there. This is the reason for th entire issue and prompted my comment. It wasn't about how people live their lives but rather having no garage access dictated by a parent. I still feel bad for the OP and it's unfortunate it happened. Quote:

Not to mention housing in Vancouver is ridiculous right now. With more than a few forecasting some drop in the next while. So why buy when the market is like it is right now? If you have parents who don't mind you living with them, why take the risk and buy now, and why throw money away renting.
Some people don't mind living with their parents, so they'd rather have a car. Some people would rather ride the bus in order rent to live alone. You and some people may think the first scenario is stupid. I, and I'm sure at least some people think the second scenario is stupid. Different strokes for different folks. |

Well the topic seems to be going a different direction but anyways
If the Damage is bad enough (panels are pushed in and dented alot) you will get a new DOOR as BMW does not sell door skins. |

Not so sure about a drop in the property market...literature states its on a steady incline. Vancouver is way to expensive to live in. I live in coquitlam and the average house value is +/- 600k. Vancouver average property is approx 1.2M. Bring in the Evergreen Skytrain line and West Coq is projected to have a 15-25% increase in property value...not sure about port moody/north coq tho
I also live with my parents til my condo is built and i feel u with street parking OP - Bavara and No. 1 Collision are bmw certified. Ive been hearing mixed reviews from No. 1 Collision tho. I would say take it to Bavara in Langley. Havnt heard of a negative feedback from them Last edited by engotski; 01-15-2012 at 06:48 PM.. |
