What’s it worth? N54 E90
Hi all -
I’ve always been interested in 335s because I think the twin turbo setup is pretty neat. That said, always been a V8 guy. Have had several GT500s and track my current one a good bit. Was at COTA last month and will be there later this month. Coworker has a 2010 335i with 102k miles. Clean car in and out, normal wear & tear, clean title and seems like he’s kept up on maintenance. He’s a car guy and I know I’ve heard him talk about walnut blasting. He’s got a family and needs something bigger. I don’t need the car but would buy it for a decent price. I imagine I’d tune, downpipes, maybe an intercooler and maybe bigger turbos if the motor will support such. Maybe try and track it? Unsure about that. Leaning towards something quick to drive around town on a sunny day. I’ve not dug into the possibilities with this car but obviously will if I buy it. So, all this to say, what is such a car worth? I’ll buy it for a fair price, but again I don’t need it. Figured you all could help me figure out what it’s worth. I believe it has the sport package with paddles Thanks all |

Lol. Actually, this is one of the best car forums in the world. Look around. The car is worth what someone will pay for it. N54 vs 52 vs 55 is all documented here. Look at the guide to buying an E90 page and that should help you decide. Good info there.

Kbb shows a private party value for a car as you described of $9k. I assumed 'Very Good' condition. If I was the seller I'm asking for at least a few grand more than that because prices will continue to rise for these and there just aren't many clean examples left. For example, there's only 1 2010 E90 335i on AutoTrader and it's listed for $13,875 with 87,500 miles.
As to the condition... if I were purchasing any N54 powered car today then I need to know a lot more from the seller than "seems like he's kept up on the maintenance". Any actual records? Walnut blasting is great and all but I'd want to known when it was last done. There's a laundry list of other things that I'd want to know when they were last replaced before buying one with 102k on the clock. |

Do you have a list of everything done to the car?
If nothing, 9k at 100k miles (Manual Trans, probably take off 1-2k for AT. It's less desirable). If everything, I'd pay 20k to have a fully sorted 335i. Index 12 injectors alone are like $3500. - LPFP/HPFP replacement. ~1000 in parts - Index 12s. ~3500 in injectors - Turbos/Wastegate replacement/fixes $3000? Yes, you will have issues on n54. - Oil pan/Valve Cover/Oil filter housing gaskets. I'd pay $1k on top knowing these were done. - Vanos Solenoids $450 for two. - Plastic hoses related to the turbo system. - Suspension work? $2000 for all four corners. Control arms, tie rods, shocks. I paid $7900 at 119k miles for my n52 330xi. Previous owner spent couple of grand refreshing all four corners. - Were all the fluids changed regularly? If you can get a history of that. I'd be willing to pay quite a bit more if I can know for sure that this car was maintained during it's life. At 100k it's not a deal breaker to walk away from a purchase. Don't have a 335. Find out the common issues with these cars when stock and figure out the value from there based on the work done. Also, the car sounds like it's stock which is great. Stock 335i's are rare. look every day online.
Around 60kmiles , a lot of enthusiast fix the N54 issues. I bought one last week still pinching my self. Guy did most N54 issues then sell it since the car wasn't running good, and I found it was a 30$ part (low pressure fuel sensor) The guy put 8500$ cad since 2020, new suspension, new hpfp, new coils, new spark, new Afe intake, new charge pipe, JB4, BEF MHD, new tires, silicone hoses, new rod bearing, new seals ALL arround, 115k km ONLY, never driven in winter. LCI model fully loaded (executive, individual, comformt, sport, CIC, real leather, m sport, 6mt) What was the catch , I still dont know. The car runs great, not stolen. The guy was just tire to spend money. It got a salvage title in 2010, so when car was new, and all good since. paid 7k$ cad, which is what? 5k$ usd. A steal I will say, when I saw it on FB, I call the guy right away and see it during my work hours |
