Question New to me 335i......really wide tires, should I go with a different size?

I picked up a nice 07' 335i. As far as I can tell, the suspension is all stock. It's got the factory 18" wheels on it.

In the front, the car has 255/35/18 Michelin Pilots....in the back it's got 275/35/18 Michelin Pilots. The tires are is bad shape and need to be replaced.

When I buy new tires for the car, should I go with a smaller size? I don't mind a little wider than stock tire, but I would eventually like to lower the car a little on coilovers and I don't want anything to rub. I haven't driven the car hard at all, but as far as I can tell...the current tires aren't rubbing at all.

Suggestions for a new front and rear tire size??

Thanks.

Thanks! I will check it out!

I'm surprised the guy was able to fit 255s on the front and 275's on the rear......

Have you checked how wide the rims are?

They are OEM BMW wheels...I think they are 8.5" in the front, and 9.5" in the rear.

Should probably see the actual sizes. If you are right those tire sizes are fine. If they are the stock 8/8.5 then they are 2 sizes too wide.

How many different sizes do they make those BMW wheels in? As far as I know they are what can on the car.

What would be a good staggered tire size to put on those wheels? I like a wide tire....I just won't want any rubbing when I lower it a little, and I don't want to go any wider than those wheels are rated for.

They only made them in 1 size. You can put a lot of different tire sizes on 1 size of a wheel. I would stick with 235/265 or 225/255 on those.

It is always better to do the suspension first so you know what you're dealing with. If you need to replace the tires first, I would suggest going with a little smaller. I'd rather be a little conservation than get bit after installing a new suspension and rub. I went with 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 on a stock suspension because I wanted a comfortable ride and fill the space out a little.

That looks pretty sharp. I'm planning on doing the Bilstein coil overs at some point...I'm assuming that with the 235 / 265 setup....I shouldn't have any issues?

Staggered Tire Sizes for e9x

My '07 335i came stock with "M" sport package: 235/40/18 front, 255/35/18 rear-
I run these for summer and they look and feel great! They fit really well and keep in mind the stock "M" package does lower the car at least an inch or more.

I run 225 front, 245 rear Blizzaks for winter.

I would say you may loss a very little gas mileage with the wider tires but worth the increase in performance and feel..

At the end of the day I like the look of low profile tires but it does come at a cost of performance, dependability and even road feel especially if the roads you tend to drive are not perfect like ours here in the Detroit area.

I didn't know that they ever came with 255/275 tires on them.....does the m-sport package come with wider wheels also?

M-Sport package came with 225 front and 255 rears. My M-Sport 193 wheels are 8" front and 8.5" rear.

No E9x came with 275s from the factory (not even the M3 - to my knowledge was 265)

I didn't think so.....I'm pretty sure my car has the m-sport package....and the sticker on the door calls for 225/255 tires.

This ain't rocket science.. how are you only 'pretty' sure your car has ZMP??

E9x (non-m) only had 3 different tire combos.

205/55/16 (not for 335s)
225/45/17
225/40/18 & 255/35/18 staggered (sport and m-sport models with 18")

Some sport packs came with 17s if the original owner opted for those.

I guess I really never cared enough to find out for sure....it's either sport or Msport. No need to be a dick about it.

If you can tell me the differences between the sport and m-sport are, I will tell you what it is.

Ok...then mine is just the sport. It's got the m-sport bumpers, but the previous owner put those on.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Forgot to mention that it also comes with the black headliner and black window trim. So yes, looks like your car has just the base sport package.

Good looking vehicle nevertheless!

Did it look more thicker? Also any rubbing issues with 235 and 265 rears? Are you also on sport suspension? Thanks
