Got my airbox for $70 shipped from the Fatherland!

Also a filter that's readily available in the states for this is:
MAHLE LX 1035

Do you know if this k&n filter is equivalent to Mahle?

Yep that's correct.

I should pick this up.. with the airbox cover off the noises would be glorious.

Bumping this back to the top because this thread helped me lots!!

https://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-3er-E90-...MAAOSwwDJcQGgS

https://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-3-E91-Lu...8AAOSwf95cWtJK

Here's two currently for sale - first not the best price but you can recoupe costs by selling the MAF (or sell yours + that one and switch to Euro IAT )

I went direct to source. You can go to partsgaeway.co.uk and vendors will send you offers.

Or the place I went with was autoparts24.co.uk which had some options under £100

Also, for whatever reason, most of them get pulled from cars with the filter, so wait till you see the item in hand before you buy a new one (you may not need it unless you are certain that you want to switch to K&N — which I cant say has significant gains over stock).

Mine came with filter. That thing was FILTHY! Not sure how long it was in the car, but it looked rough.

Hahaha, after receiving mine I actually returned the Mahle I had bought. I'll admit to trying the K&N for sound, but the effects were minimal.

Don't bother with K&N on this. I ended up installing K&N (even thou I said I would never use their product again), and tbh, I think the sound is quieter than what I had with US version.

Yeah mine came with a filter, mostly clean, but I stuck a new one on there because why not? Kept the old one in the new one's box in my pile-o-BMW-shit.

This was a good thread worth bumping. I searched the part number on eBay and got one for just under $200 shipped from England!

I finally decided to order this Airbox because with my ram intake mod it’s a pita changing filters with the US Airbox, I have to remove the fender liner to access the ram connection at the bottom of the Airbox before I can take it out.

If you end up doing ram intake on the new box, please document it and post it on here. New box seems larger. It will be a tight fit.

The way I do the ram will definitely work. I just cut a hole in the bottom of the Airbox and run tubing from the underside of the Airbox to an inlet in the bumper by the fog light. I’ll document and post pics no problem!

But how much better is this really than what even the stock routing plus some scoop diverters in the front will do?

The limiting factor is the stock snorkels above the grills.

This is why every intake that has dyno’ed more hp has added a second intake tract. (AFE- stock snorkel plus added second intake in front of Airbox behind headlight, Dinan- stock snorkels plus ram, BMW Performance- larger snorkels and second intake from windshield area)

My Euro Airbox arrived today. Only took 3 days to arrive from London!

FYI here’s the US Airbox Panel Filter (k&n) vs the Euro Airbox Round Filter (k&n). I wasn’t sure there would be much difference until I saw them side by side! Yeah it’s quite a difference. I was thinking this would just be a convenience mod (easy filter changes) but maybe I get 1 horsepower also
