Cylinder head cover gasket brand recommendation?

Hi guys,

I'm planning on replacing the head cover gasket on my 2010 330i while doing injectors + oil catch can. The part number is 11127544368 - there are quite a few brands that I've seen make this gasket. Given that this part is not the easiest to replace, I'd rather get one that lasts the longest.

What is your recommendation for a particular brand? Is Febi Bilstein any good - they seem to make lots of parts and I got the impression that they are good quality. At the same time they are often the cheapest of any brand - which is a bonus if the quality is there!

Febi Bilstein

DrMotor
Ajusa
elring
victor reinz
elwis
glaser

Appears from reading the Internetz that elring, Victor Reinz and febi are top choices with elring likely being OEM.

I would recommend replacing the whole valve cover, not just the gasket. Often there are hairline cracks in the plastic and/or the PCV system is clogged/shot. My indy tells me he always does cover with gasket as he's replaced too many gaskets only to find the cover needs replacing shortly afterwards. Just a thought...

Thanks for the useful input! My car has done around 75k miles - is it worth replacing the cover? I've seen folks with 270k on original cover.

What do you know of your car's service history? If it's been BMW serviced with long oil change intervals, there's a good chance the PCV system will be clogged. If you can afford it, I'd still say change the cover as well as the gasket...
