If I did an in-cabin sub, it would have to be exposed...im thinking it could be very stealth looking with an shallow mount 8" woofer, or slightly flashy with a regular 8" sub. This is definately a DIY...just have to decide how to go about it.

Anyone else with pics? Was hoping someone completed a Pioneer 8" shallow mount install.
Pilsener, did you make a small enclosure for the speaker or did you use the factory enclosure? Did you have the 8 inch speakers to begin with or the 6 1/2? Thanks Last edited by Markinsd; 06-03-2007 at 04:46 PM.. |

pilsener, nice set up. ive heard nothing but good things about focal speakers. same goes for JL subs, i have a 12w3v3 in my wrangler and was dabbling with the idea of putting in the 6.5w0 in my bimmer because i havnt been able to find any other subs that will fit. if you wouldnt mind, could you explain what exactly you did to fit the 6.5's into the underseat mounting and any other steps you took?? it would be greatly appreciated. also, how much more "punch" and clarity have you gained from putting in the JL's??? very nice work

The Logic 7 brochure for the E60 calls that woofer a "9" ".
If you examine the pics of the woofers for the E90 and E60 on realoem.com, you can see the woofer for the E90 is far smaller, and smaller relative to its voice coil/magnet, than the E60 woofer. I have amplified the E83 woofers, which I would call 6-inch (there are no standard sizes) as midbass and gotten decent results. I have no idea how their power handling will be long term. I used a Zapco DC amp with a 24dB HP filter at 60 Hz and a 24dB LP at 250. Based on those results, I wouldn't hesitate to amplify the E90 woofers, with a 50W RMS amp and with a 24dB high-pass "subsonic" filter at probably 40 Hz.

The solution, as you can see, was to modify the oem enclosure. Bye |

Hi everyone, new user here, So my passenger side sub caught on fire the other day and I saw someone recommend the PIONEER TS-SW841D and I ordered 1 (the only one left in stock, will buy the 2nd soon) and I was wondering what wiring I'll need to buy to hook them up?

You need to know which sound system you have before you do this.
In general the amp and lack of amp have a big effect on if this will actually gain you any ground. Mixing speakers is not a good idea and the no Amp parallel connection between the doors and floors will cause problems with aftermarket speaker replacements. |

I don't know why people bring up these time warp articles.
The place you should start is the audio built sticky at the top of the sub forum page. |
