Post Sourcing OEM Parts in Melbourne area

Hi Guys,

Just wondering where you get your OEM parts from in the Melbourne area? Is a particular dealership cheaper than others? An online store? I'm looking for general servicing parts such as oil filters, air filters, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Just general maintenance items for now. I've found a seller on eBay in Mentone that seems to stock some OEM items (http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/run_auto_parts). Would probably be cheaper than the dealership, right? Another place I've considered is SCA, but they don't really stock any OEM parts (mostly RYCO?). Not sure if I should be avoiding those parts really.

Just interested to know where everyone else gets their stuff! I know in America they have an abundance on online stores that stock OEM parts (i.e. ECS Tuning, BMsports etc). Wish we had that kind of set up here... Shipping is a killer!

Thanks for the help.

Buy online from overseas, FCP Euro, ECS Tuning, Pelican Parts.

There is a new online store in Melbourne that has good prices, they only setup a few months ago (they introduced themselves on e46fanatics a while back). Their prices are good, but their range of parts has stopped growing and just about anything I try to buy, they don't have. www.clickableautomotive.com.au

The only slight issue I'm finding with the online US sites is that they don't seem to stock parts for e90 320i, as they weren't sold there

I'll have a look through the link you sent me, I had never heard of them before! Do you know whereabouts they are based?

Hey fo55il, cheers for the help!

I'm thinking the basics, such as:

- Oil filter
- Oil filter removal tool
- Cabin air filter
- Air filter
- Spark plugs
- Brake pads
- Auto Transmission Sleeve Seal
- Transmission Pan + Filter
etc

I've found that SCA has a parts finder here: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/spa...ts-finder.aspx

But like I said earlier, none of it seems to be OEM... Has anyone had any experience with these brands and items? i.e. Ryco

Thanks again!

I once tried Ryco filters in my e36 and the ends on the filter were some furry fabric material, which did not seem to fit properly.

Went to BMW and got the genuine piece from the dealer, it had metal end caps, a metal cage and rubber seals either end.

I threw the Ryco filter in the bin and never touched them again.

Genuine BMW filter:

You would probably save more if you got everything of say Ecs and shipped it all together.
However try Imparts, they are a European parts specialists.

Cheers mate, just what I feared. Might give Ryco a miss!

Thanks for the heads up

Unfortunately ECS stocks very little for my car (320i) so I can't get much from them also I found a nice looking kit from the ebay account I linked before. Wasn't too expensive either. Seems to have all Mann filters/ OEM quality so I might give that a go!

There is nothing wrong with the Ryco products! Having said that they're about $18 each for the ryco's, the oem filters can be had for that pretty much.

FYI N54 oem filters don't have metal end caps so the aforementioned post above is irrelevant.

I got 6 or so filters chucked in with a large bulky parcel (335i performance exhaust) and they weigh bugger all so the shipping cost didn't change and they cost around $10 a pop

Above post is not irrelevant - the n54 might use different filters but those are both the same part apparently. Quality of construction just isn't there with Ryco.
