Hit a pothole Friday

So I hit a massive pothole with the passenger side front and back tires Friday night. I was going around a corner down a narrow road while someone was coming the other way so I couldn't avoid it. I was probably driving 30-35 mph. It hit so hard it caused the right headlight to aim far higher than the left. When I got home I inspected for damage tires/wheels for damage and there was nothing I could see visually.

Later that night I took it on the pike and now there is a slight vibration in the wheel when driving 60+mph. This can also be heard. I also think I can feel it when making right turns but who knows since placebo is a helluva drug.

My question is where should I take it to be inspected for damage? Should I bother bringing it to the dealer, as I doubt the standard warranty would cover any damage from a pothole. This is assuming that the damage is strictly to the tire, but I read some horror stories of other car damage on the forum. I kicking myself for declining the optional Rim/Tire warranty, after looking at how much these RFTs and rims cost.

I live in the metrowest and my dealer is Wagner. Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Could have bent a wheel and/or messed up the alignment. Might be worth it to pull off the wheels and visually inspect them on both sides. Also look for a bubble on the sidewall of the tire. That's pretty common when hitting a pothole.

+1 sounds like something bent on the inside if there's vibrations going 60 mph. best thing to do is remove and inspect your wheel to save ur self money. if your car is still under warranty you can bring it back to the dealership and have them take a look.

Warranty is still good for another year.. I guess I will just bring it in. I don't have the tools or jack to do it myself.

Both rims are bent on my car.. Suggestions? Man that wheel and tire warranty would have been so clutch.

I'm not sure if you're running OEM staggered or if your tires are unidirectional, but you might want to consider moving the bent front rim to the rear and getting them balanced as best as possible.

This might allow you to get through the winter and/or wait for some cheap used rims to come up for sale.

Edit - also, check for replicas, they make them in all kinds of styles now.

I have been researching this all day and I think I have come up with a solution. My tires have 37,000 miles on them and are a bit too bald for my taste during the winter here. I might as well go all out at this point. I liked the stock rims but was never in love with them. Looking at these VMR 710s with ExtremeContact DWS tires. I think this should be a good aesthetic and performance upgrade for me. Just have to be extra careful with 18's now, and stay away from that road completely. Using the calculator on the site, I figure 18x8.5 with 35mm offset wheels and 225/40-18 tires will fit well, only being .455% different. "7mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 5mm"

Any one have any suggestions on where to buy and where to get this installed?

I hit a huge chunk of concrete on the Mass Pike with my wife's E46 330i ZHP this fall. I did bend the inside of the rim but the PS2 survived - which would seem to be a miracle. Had HC in Sudbury dismount the tire, then took it to Rim Pro in Tewksbury to unbend it - which they did while I waited. Had HC remount and road force balance both fronts. Total cost was about $250.
