Touchless Car Wash

If anyone is looking for a car wash on the North Shore, I visited Flo's Auto Bath in Wakefield (Water Street) on Saturday to try out the touchless car wash and have to admit I was quite impressed. Long lines (they have 2 touchless bays), $8 to $12 for the wash depending on options, but the car came out impressively clean for a touchless wash...

I agree - it's one of the best around. That said, it still doesn't do anywhere near as good a job as a regular handwashing does. But in this weather it's pretty damn good - get's the undercarriage too...

You can also go to Hancock St carwash in Quincy if you are around that area. Went there this saturday and was amazed to find out I was driving a white car again.

i was there 3 time in the past 2 weeks

tip for you first timers... drive in very slow so u can get the under cariage sprayed throughly. Also when exiting, take up the whole 60 sec they give u.
i remembered the first time i went through too fast and tried to reverse a little but it automaticly shuts of if you reverse.

There are far worse things you can do to your paint in the winter. A good touchless does a decent job.

Flo's Auto Bath is right down the street from my shop. I admit it does a pretty decent job getting the heavies off, but it doesn't dry the car very well, which really bugs me...

^ Agreed - and that one in Burlington doesn't even have a drier. I've used both and the one in Burlington doesn't hold a candle to Flo's...

The one I usually go to has 4 big dedicated dryers, and they give you a full 60 seconds to pull through slowly and dry the car. For $8 it does a great job on the wheels and gets the undercarriage - it's $6 if you skip undercarriage but the extra 2 bucks seems worth it to me. Tough to beat for when it's this cold/windy.

I've been to several others where the drying units are on the touchless wash arm itself. They do a horrible job - not nearly as powerful as the dedicated driers. The real cheap ones don't even have driers.

Can't wait for spring so I can get back to detailing. I hate driving a dirty car.

Oh sorry guys, that wasn't my intention.

It's Clipper City Touchless, up in Newberryport. I live on the North Shore (and work in So. NH) so it's probably a little far away for you Boston guys. Here's their site: http://clippercitycarwash.com/index.html
