BC BR Coilovers- Spring Rates
Hi All,
This is mainly aimed at members with BC coilovers, but others may be able to help. I am on the verge of ordering a set and have been asked which spring rates I'd like, as custom ones are available. I have said that I won't be tracking the car and that they are for lowering/ improving stance. I am going to get a set of 19x9/19x10AG M359's and want to have the car sitting nice- minimal arch gap with no rubbing. I've been recommended 8/12kg/mm. Not my words- that was copied from the email I've received from the retailer.... What have other people got and can anyone share any advice please? I've had coilovers on 2 other cars but never been offered custom spring rates before. Thanks in advance. |

If you're going for tight fitment then up the spring rates a bit. It does make the car stiffer obviously, and handling of course but if you're going purely for looks that won't be a worry.
Who are you ordering from? They might be able to advise too. I was recommended 10/12kg if going low, was thinking 10/14kg as I use my boot A LOT. Think based on that, 8/10kg is standard. BC don't have different rates for different models, so they're a bit general. Springs can be swapped out, they aren't the end of the world really, roughly £60 each. I'd go softer and if need be you can get stiffer ones. |

Thanks for the reply- the recommended rates came from SSautowerks as per your post in the other thread- with the June discount and at £655 delivered I think that is pretty hard to beat.
Dan at SSautowerks said the 8/12kg are the standard ones that the BC's come with. Any stiffer will be custom ones, which are the same price. I still want the car to handle nice and given the adjustable damping flexibility I think I will be ok with what he has suggested. Any other experiences are gladly welcomed. Thanks. |

Dampening won't really effect the initial amount of suspension travel from a bump etc.
It depends if you're wanting to go low or stance it. If the fitment is going to be close then I'd go for the 2kg harder ones, but if not I'm sure regular will be fine. |

Cheers for the input. I have decided to go for custom 10/14kg rates, as although I don't plan on going silly low now- when I have Coilovers I always end up going lower and lower and my arches have paid the price in the past due to much travel- so that is a safer option!!
You going for a set? |
