Question about Resonator 335i sedan...

I just installed Magnaflow mufflers and it is not as loud as I would like. Some people said I should remove the resonator on my 335i sedan. Good Idea or Bad? Any ideas??? Suggestions??

Please Help!!!

If you want it to be louder, then you should remove the resonators. Once you remove the resonators, you might get some drone. Not sure how much.

GL!

Im totally oblivious to the world of exhaust... what is drone? would you recommend putting an x pipe instead of just removing?

Drone is a sound from the exhaust that you will hear in the cabin around 2k-3k rpm. It's a sound like a deep bass noise. Not really sure how to explain it. Most cars with aftermarket exhaust have droning. I have the Borla Catback exhaust and it comes with the x-pipe and it still drones a little. It's not that bad. Well, at least in my opinion.

I'm sure somebody else will be able to answer you question better.

I got rid of my resonator and put on magnaflow mufflers on and my car sounds amazingly beefy. just get regular tubing to replace the resonator, and muffler shop that welds can do that.

i have BMW's Performance Exhaust, and a get a slight drone at 2K RPM's but only went cruising (not accelerating/ or decelerating) at 2K.

the Xpipe is not needed, Turbo's would be better w/out it. just ask any tuner tech. but getting the stock Xpipe/resinator out of your exhaust system would be a plus all the way around

If you put the x-pipe in place of the resonator it will be only slightly louder than it is with it. I had my magnaflows on for a month before i put the xpipe in and in my opinion it did help with the throttle response.

yep, the X pipe is the location of ur resonator, for E90's.

DRONE is the sound you get when ur car becomes a Tuning Fork for the
engine/ exhaust noise.

so the hard part is to name that tune.

i just deleted my resonator and replaced it with borla pipes, bad idea... it becomes way too loud inside the car, I rather keep it nice and fine... I also replaced the whole exhaust by an Afe so I think I want to either put the stock resonator back on or buy an after market one since i don't want to ruin the original...
hope it helps
