Michelin Tire Rant - HydroEdge 185 65 15s

So my wifes car gets a flat.

Her tires are fantastic. Michen HydroEdge 185 65 15.

Fantastic tires - great traction and excellent tread life.

One problem. The tires are on National Back order. I have called 10 different authorized dealers and no one has the tires in stock.

I called Michelin and asked them "What gives?" The tires are not even on their current production schedule and probably will not be available in that size for some time.

3 out of 4 tires have 75-80% tread life on them. Now I have to replace at least two tires...the Michelin rep says "oh just buy another model of tire."

Morons.

They are even on national backorder in the USA.

Have you looked into any of the used tire places. I know there used to be one on Progress near Kennedy in Scarborough. Perhaps they might have one of those tires since it looks like getting a new one won't be an option.

thanks for the advice. I did call a few in the York Region area. Couldn't find any that matched my size.

I did not know about the scarborough location.

Maybe next time.

I just bit the bullett and bought two brand new tires that have some what of a similar thread pattern...two michelins and two yoko's..while the extra michelin is now a spare. yes it looks bad, but it was the most practical and cheapest solution. Also its a front wheel drive car and it should suffice.

I would buy a new set of tires and sell the old tires on kijiji or craiglist.

Good luck.
