Thanks alot mate, i did the full retrofit today, and it fully works, the nav came with the tcu and the previous owner had bmw online service supsciption which is still active so i get the weather, news, google etc.

The sat nav was not working at first as i expected because i dont have the fsc code, but this morning when i got in the car to go to work the navigation option came up and everything works now perfectly without any programing apart from the sound as i have logic7 in my car and the the car it came from dident, but hoping to get it sorted soon

If you need coding for the cic, just contact Patrys. He's the guy you want to talk to. He coded my cic to my car, dvd in motion, and folding mirrors. Patrys is the man.

I don't know how it works in USA, but for Russia - it's great)
With all this tech going into cars, I can see some statistics going up in RTA's not keeping an eye on the road,
If only we had tech like in the Firefox movie.... must speak Russian...

For those of you that retrofitted a CIC...

For those of you that retrofitted a CIC, do these two screens work for you?

I can't seem to check off that box for the speed limit warning and my trip computer is always blank for me. Regardless if I have a destination set or not.

They both work for me... I think that your problem is that your cluster does not know that there's a Nav in your car yet. The info for those screens most probably is coming from the cluster (speed and trip computer).

How about this guy in Lithuania selling complete kits?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-e...item2eb11fc52d
Seems like everything you need, and he has a guy who logs in to your car to do the programming. And the price is good...

Also, could I sell the old CCC and display to recoup some of my costs? Or do you still need the CCC if you take the car in for service?

Oh I'd love to see it. Where did you get it done or did you do it yourself?

Unfortunately I don't have really any photos except pieces on the floor and the dash cavity

Did it myself so was trying to get it done and not miss anything but I can take a picture of the finished install ... I followed Booster's instructions for most of the project and the tips in this thread in tandem

the programming was done by BMW Retrofit who did it all remotely and were very helpful and great guys

I have not tested Voice Control but that was not a huge concern for me initially

Can you give us an estimate on total costs spent? There's only one prepackaged solution out there right now which is too expensive. EAS has not come out with their solution yet either.

I pieced my system together

for the CIC I paid roughly $1400
I used the CIC emulator so that was approx $500
I needed a new dash so for the misc parts and hardware I would say I spent roughly $1200

I am also attempting the 6FL retro but purchased some excess parts and need to try and acquire the retrofit kit to perform the wiring for that project and might attempt the combox depending on cost or if anyone wants to buy my brand new MULF2 High lol

I just did the retrofit as well, here is a brief overview...

I bought a system on eBay from a Lithuanian seller. It included everything necessary for the upgrade. I was promised a US version CIC but received a euro version with the excuse being a shipping mixup. I specifically wanted the US version for HD radio and US maps. Delivery was prompt and well packaged.

The install on my 08 328XI took longer than I thought although if I ever did another one it would be a breeze.

Coding was done by BMWretrofit. Vlad is very accommodating and easy to work with. I was disappointed when as first approached Patrys but he declined to help and told me he only codes cars if you buy his equipment. I would highly recommend you contact Vlad at BMWretrofit if you need coding.

The coding went well however we couldn't get my BMW assist to work, apparently the software in my TCU needs updating.

I'm just waiting for my emulator to arrive after which I will install US maps. Vlad read my CIC's VIN so I can order an map FSC.

Cost when completed will be approx $2100.

Congrats

I am sure it was worth upgrading to the CIC. I just added the Combox to my CIC and upgraded it to the 2011 version and I love it even more

For your and everybody else information, the price is good cause it does not include the OEM activation of the Navigation.
I keep saying that but it's important to understand the difference even though I am also offering this cheaper aftermarket solution.

Just research it as much as you can before you make a decision if you want to go for a more expensive OEM solution or a cheaper aftermarket one, which in fact is tampering of the CAN communication between the CIC and the rest of the car.
