As i understand it, the cars come pre-wired from dealer, you must buy the module and have a dealer code it so it works.

If you have the build sheet for the car you can see if it pre wired which almost all were. The module should be available and after install it will need to be coded.

Not sure of the exact module cost, but my dealership charged me $350 for labor and everything. This was for an 06 325, back in 06.

I have an early MY 2009 which came pre-wired for alarm, likely as yours did. As I understand it, they stopped including the alarm pre-wiring in mid-MY 2009.

I bought the alarm kit from Tisher/getbmwparts.com for $225. It included 3 main components: A hood trigger switch, ultrasonic glass detection unit (goes in center dome light module) and a siren which goes in the left rear wheel well behind the fender liner.

I did the install myself with basic tools, but the alarm did need to be coded to operate fully.

I did notice, even prior to coding, that the clown nose would blink when the car was locked with these new components installed (it hadn't worked prior).

Just go on tischer's page and order it under the e9x section. getbmwparts.com

I got mine from there back in 07. Just use their drop down menu selection for model type and yr. They're a BMW dealership so they'll get you the right ones.

On the blinking clown nose after install and before coding the bling pattern was different. I think is was...blink, blink, pause, blink, blink, pause. That indicates "alarm installed but there is an error." After coding the blink pattern steady at one blink about every 5 seconds.
