Will I need aftermarket struts and shocks If I lower my car on springs?

Just as the title says will I need to get new shocks and struts or should the ride quality be fine with oem struts but aftermarket springs.

I always recommend upgrading the shocks on spring setups to prevent them from wearing prematurely. Plenty of people run springs on OEM shocks though.

not recommended. be prepared for a shitty ride. koni yellows will pair nicely.

you're probably right, I'm a recent offender as well. Threads I've found vary, depending on the springs. I'm thinking about eibach pros, have found responses ranging from "it's always a bad idea to pair with oe shocks" to "i've had Eibachs on for 60k miles, no problem".

not to digress or thread-jack but did you install your dinan cambers and did you like?

OP from what I've read the lower you go the more likely to have issues. People on Eibach pro seem to be okay (but drop is only another .5 to .7 up front compared to sport pkg). I've decided not to go any lower than Eibach and maybe not even do that .... maybe just do lowering perches as I've read they do not compress the strut but simply streamline the height of the hardware above the springs.

Lowering springs are not meant to be used with OEM struts and shocks. The ride quality will be diminished and the struts and shocks will wear much faster. Some people still choose to pair lowering springs with the OEM struts and shocks, but it's not smart.

Yes, I installed the camber plates. I like them - no complaints.

I ran stock shocks with H&R springs and my socks where all gone by 2,000 miles. My opinion is just get coilovers and do it right the first time or upgrade shocks like you have stated.

I originally did just spring (H&R sport) on my e92 sport package ride wasnt terrible but wasnt great either. Had that set up for around 10k miles (20-30k) served its purpose making the car look better and now i have kw v2's because i track the car now and i need the adjustability.

Yes you need to change them, but if you go the cheap route you'll eventually end up changing the shocks and struts once the OEM are blown. Do it right the first time and buy coilovers.

Also it is kind of a forum rule to search first instead of making a new thread with a question that's been answered numerous times, it keeps the forums clutter free.

If it were me I'd go straight to coilovers as well.

OP, I have oem sport struts with tein s tech springs for a over two years now, no problems. I even tried ST coilovers, ride was too hard and jarring: sold the ST, went right back to springs. People with coilovers must have buns of steel or something. You should be fine with just springs.

MY BC coilovers are smooth as butter...my wife even likes it....with springs she would hardly ride in the car lol!
