iphone 4s compatibility

Just spent 40 bux on the kensington y cable. Plugged it into my car and my 4S and all I got was "not supported"

Is this an error, or is the iphone 4s not supported on 2009 idrive? If it isnt supported, is there any way to make it so?

I would say its the cable as a 4S has worked on my car no problem. Why didn't you get the 6FL cable?

the 6fl is twice as expensive and like 4 inches long. I want to be able to have my phone accessible. There shouldnt be any difference between the functionality of the two cables...
