06 E90 325i Successful Install of 135 BBK
Hello All,
First off I would like to say that I am new to the forum and this is my first post so kindly bare with me. I recently purchased an 06 325i sedan mainly as a daily driver so I wanted something fairly reliable so I came across a clean low millage E90 and always loved the platform so I jumped on it and here I am today. Since purchasing the car I have succumbed to the infamous mod bug after doing some research on the platform it became a slippery slope. I am located in Toronto Canada and began servicing and modifying my vehicle at arguably one of the best BMW independent shops this side of the country RMP Motors. Since then I have upgraded some of the fairly popular items like the 3 stage intake manifold, upgraded my FRM, LUX LED's, BMW SSK, amongst other cosmetic upgrades and regular wear and tear maintenance items. Most recently I took on the the challenge 135 BBK kit front and back which I was able to source locally at a good price. I only say "took on" because I didn't realize until doing some research that there were some differences in the parking brake assembly on earlier models E90 325/328. This meant the front calipers would bolt on perfectly but the rears would not or at least could be bolted up but you would be forced to use the incorrect rotor and lose the parking brake function which I like to have because my vehicle is a 6MT. I quickly began digging deeper into the potential options/solutions I reached out to other forum members with no luck on a solution and came to conclusion that I was SOL. So I contacted Rocco RMPMOTORS to see if he knew of a solution. Well three days later I received a call from RMP and Rocco simply said "when can I book you in"? Rocco said he may have a solution. Well the next morning he called me and said cars done come by, I was eager to see what he had done. he had not only had everything fitted perfectly but was able to retain the use of my handbrake without major modifications to hubs shields ect. |

That’s nice but... Without you sharing the solution they used your post isn’t helpful. Did they do something new that we don’t know about??
The only current solution, which most guys running those brakes have done, is to weld the 335 parking brake outer shoe onto the 328i inner shoe guts. __________________

I also can confirm that all the parts used are oem so in conclusion Rocco was able to source an OEM rotor for the rear that once some machining was done to get the perfect fit bolted right up. |

Exactly my thoughts. There was one thread that listed a Zimmermann part that is more readily available than the genuine BMW part. I can't seem to find it. I have a customer looking for the same thing.

Here it is: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...php?p=19265919
34216787931 Or Zimmermann 150.3477.20 But you still need to deal with the park brake issue. Cheapest is to cut and weld a frankenstein set of shoes. Someone did it with JB Weld... |

What was done to my car sounded much easier to me and far less expensive. Overall I'm very happy with the results and the kit looks great as well as fitting behind the oem wheels without issue. |

PN: 34206797598 (or the non dimpled equivalent) which is a 345mm x 24mm rotor that fits the e9x 328i 160mm parking brakes. When I researched this swap I couldn’t find any other rotors that were a good fit as a starting point. The only issue for the OP would be machining them down that much throws off the balance. (Supposedly the discs are balanced by removing material from the outer edges when they are produced and if you do major machining like removing 20mm off the outer diameter you will throw the balance off.) He said they had done some machining so that’s what I came up with. If you look at his pics of the rear rotors the inner vent parts look like they meet up flush with the OD and aren’t recessed below the OD like stock.

did any one has the part number for the rotors use by the OP, I contacted RMP and the shops want $500.00 for rotors + machine work. they want $165.00 for each blank rotors.
OEM BMW f30 328i 345x24 rotors are 280.00 for the pair, with cheaper options available. I can get rotors machine for $100.00 but they won't share the part number. do you guys feel if I buy 345x24 and machine the outer by 10-15mm I won't have a problem fitting them in a 128i. |
