IPOD w\Idrive: can I view music w\idrive?
I've done a bunch of searching, but cant see to find a couple simple answers:
1. If I hook up my idrive via the aux port, then can i select my ipod music via the idrive interface? 2. If not, what is required to be able to do this? I have a post Sept built vehicle BTW. TIA! |

1. No you need the IPOD adapter installed by BMW to see your playlist on the IDrive screen. Using the aux will just feed the audio through your cars speakers.
2. You need to get the IPOD MOST installed at your dealer, or attempt to DIY. The part cost like 200+ and to get it installed for a total of 600-800$

You can't see song info on iDrive if you connect iPod to aux input. No steering wheel input either, except volume control.
I highly recommend the iPod kit. It's about $300 for the parts, and BMW states 1.5 hours of labor for installaion. Some dealer might charge you more for installation, but is definitely negotiable. It shouldn't cost near $600-$800. I paid around $500 total for parts and installation. Good luck, -hkj |
