Are you f*cking kidding me?? I just went to check a VIN for open recalls and saw this posted today on CR. I have to get my airbag replaced again!

I received a notice but it wasn’t confirmed on the BMW US website. I had the previous recall done in ‘18 but does this mean that that batch is bad or is it another airbag involved?

Here's the 38-page PDF that has details on Recall Performance Procedure, why required, etc. PDF can also be downloaded from BMW site ("Documents").

So the first recall was a temporary fix where they just installed a new airbag that might also eventually fail, and this time they have a 'permanent' fix?
I just installed a new airbag last month, when I installed a sport steering wheel...

Well, it certainly isn't all of the 3's...
There were 840,000 in the 2016 recall, for example. Maybe some of the cars who got parts at the very beginning (the higher risk cars, humid areas, etc) got new inflators of the old design...

That is what they did for my E70. I got a new old design drivers side in 2016. Now they want to replace it with the new design. And I was in high humidity FL at the time. The difference is the E70 messaging clearly told us this in 2016. I don't think the E90 messaging was as clear.

This is so aggravating. I just took the car in last March to get an airbag recall done, now I
see a new airbag recall posted on my online BMW account. |

Yep - I had both replaced a few years ago in my E46xi, and sure enough, the passengers side is recalled again. Ugh.
