Turns out one of the injectors was bad, and the injector fried the DME. So for that reason when they swapped out the injectors with 'known good' injectors, that didn't fix it, and when they just swapped DME's that didn't do it either. So now it's got MSD81 and a fresh set of injectors and she is purring like a LION again. Seriously, maybe it's the bs rental CVT 4-banger CUV I've been driving the last two months, but she seems faster than I can remember her being since she was but a babe. She still looks awfully hot for 105.
Glad you resolved this, and I hope this is not the case with my lean fault.

How much was the cost?
I don't know yet, they're still putting it together. It's gonna hurt. New set of OEM injectors is about $1800 on its own. Plus computer ($1800), plus valve cover ( ~600 or so), plus labor.... I'm gonna be lucky to get through this under 6. I'll be thrilled if I wind up under 5 somehow, accepting if under 6 and less than pleased if they go north of 6. I'm not eating the $1700 in loaner fees. We've talked about fair and equitable, I just hope they're gentle.

It was under 6 but the shop took a loss on it. They came down from over 7, and with the hours it took them to get it sorted it could've easily been over 10. The owner was involved and they've been in our community for decades. I'm happy.

On the bright side, all of the vacuum leaks repaired and it's running like new.

Just realized a bonus. The car had been having some strange electronic issues, such as a passenger-side side-view mirror with a mind of its own, that would skew itself out of whack when I would start the car. Another was the weight sensor on the passenger side would set the seatbelt please chime going even if I only had a gym bag, notebook, or whatever resting on that seat. Both of which were vexing me, both of which are no longer issues, suggesting that they may have been early signs of the MSD-80 starting to go. What do you think?

That's funny, I also have those symptoms, I thought the they were related to moisture and unrelated. Did you ever get a random stumble on the highway or not so smooth idling? I'm pulling my CAS module tonight and sending it in to upgrade to msd81. I hope those other 2 gremlins get cleared up at the same time.
