Are you so anal, you've done this...?

Who cleans the underside of their car? I saw this photo "snareman" posted from the rear of his 335i and was impressed by how bright the mufflers and aluminum suspension pieces were. This was my inspiration, hope you don't mind!

So, I went to work with some steel wool and Mother's polish. The 1st photo is with car up on ramps, the 2nd photo is with the car on the ground - I wonder if it's even possible to see what I've done from behind.

Seriously though I have sprayed it down under there but not polished I'm not that ambitious!

Looking good. Now take care of the swirls that can be seen in the second pic.

DITTO

you should spend your time next time buffing your paint, looks like you have some pretty bad swirls there.

Well, I keep the engine bay clean. And I clean the underside of the muffler each wash even though you can't really see it. I figure if I'm polishing the exhaust tips, it's not much more difficult to clean off the rest of the muffler. But I don't go quite so far as you. I can't fault your OCD because that looks great to me.

I've done the aluminum suspension on every car I've owned...but only if its visible from the rear. If I can't see it I don't bother.

I've done this on non-daily drivers, but never for the vehicles I drive regularly.

I just did this nice and quick. I used never dull or nvr dull however it is spelled. Few quick swips and my mufflers and lower arms are shining!! it def gives it a nice clean look from behind. Took about 10 minutes.

I polished my rear lower arms once, next time I do it im thinking about spraying some clear coat on them so they stay that way.
