Can anyone explain CPOs when buying private?

So I have someone telling me that a car is only truly CPO'd if bought from a dealership. So if I bought a car privately, and the seller advertises it as CPO'd till 2014 and has maintenance for 5 months, what does that mean? Can anyone explain to me how CPOs work when buying/selling privately?

Good Afternoon! It is fully transferable, so you would also have a CPO car.

Good luck!

CPO warranties are fully transferable, meaning the warranty follows the car, not the owner. So yes, you can privately purchase a car that has an existing CPO warranty.

It means you will have remaining 5 months factory warranty and CPO warranty until 2014 if it's a 2008 model and the car has been CPO'd by the dealer.
It doesn't matter if you buy the car privately, you will still be covered.
