What exhaust do you use for your N55?

This topic may have been covered, but I could not find it. I'm thinking about refreshing my stock exhaust with a cat-back and want recommendations. I've seen the COBB and Turner (valved). Both look solid, what do you all have?

Thanks. Interesting design and sounds nice in the audio clips.

I see you are 6MT, shouldn't be a problem, but also x-drive. No fitment issues?

Muffler delete with stock DP. N55 sounds good this way. No complaints except cold starts are a little loud. Muffler deleted n54 sounds like trash. Cruising no issue. And I'm old enough I'm not into super loud cars anymore.

No fitment issues, running VRSF catless DP & no resonators. Super unique tone as a few other friends of mine also have n55's and sound completely different. Cold start is pretty loud, may throw in a vibrant resi in the near future.

I'm ditching my catted DP for catless in the near future, how is the smell/drone with your setup?

since you have an xi, you got secondaries. the smell isn't too bad. the smell on mine without secondaries is horrible! I run e50 to keep the smell under control... seriously debating welding on some secondaries at this point though.

I have the VRSF street exhaust on my n54 with DP's and I originally bought a high slow cat to install in the system but still haven't. Stinks for sure but doesn't bother me when driving it. Just don't hang around the car for long when its running or youll smell like exhaust quick. If you know someone that can tig weld its' cheap and easy to do.

I had a stock exhaust with just the golf tee mod and a VRSF downpipe and it sounded awesome. I hate driving with windows down but I did it all the time with my N55 bc it sounded so good.

Performance Exhaust Mod for me. I really love it, sounds fantastic. Of course, catless DP changes the exhaust tone to a deeper note while also allowing you to clearly hear the turbine spinning. Above all, no drone or annoying resonance, at least for my xDrive.

N55 really does sound amazing.

2011n55 335i. VRSF CL D.P. w/ stock BMW exhaust no signicant sound or odor increase. Improved throttle response.
Vrsf w corsa exhaust current. Sound intoxicating. Improved flow. Increased odor and sound. Only notice odor start up in garage and idle.
Corsa aftermarket exhaust draw more attention makes car sound modified and takes away from sleeper status.

Same for me, I couldn't find an M Performance Exhaust for sale then, so I did the mod myself with the help of a friend that welds well.

Compared it to another car that had a genuine M Performance Exhaust and it sounded exactly identical!

Which mod? The MPE is a completely different axleback exhaust than the stock one, no?

I'm a fresh owner of a N55 E92 and it has the VRSF catless downpipe and the rear muffler delete. The droning is pretty bad (although not unbearable) and I am definitely thinking of an actual catback exhaust instead of the muffler delete.

The MPE for a N55 E92 is almost impossible to find (new or used), so some similar sounding alternatives would be great!

For the E9Xs I am pretty certain that the PE, at least the catback part of it (not sure if it even comes as an axelback) looks exactly the same as the stock exhaust on the exterior.

The difference between the stock and PE catback is as follows:

Stock: Has a resonator in one of the muffler amd a perforated pipe in the other.

PE: Has straight piping in both mufflers.

Here is a video that quickly shows how its done:
https://youtu.be/cdQd8TzdOaY

This is a crappy video with wind of how the different exhaust setups sounded on my car:

That's interesting - this is basically a muffler delete, except it looks stealth and still has both pipes connected to each other.
Funny thing is, this is how mine is supposedly done. But it rattles and drones like crazy and doesn't sound anything like the MPE.
Maybe they forgot to re-stuff the exhaust?

I recently got the car with some modifications, including this one, already done and I have to rely on what the previous owner told me.
What is this packing material inside anyway?
