BMW vs. Pothole = 2 completely crack wheels
Yesterday I was going back home when I suddenly hit a pothole.
I did not even see it. I hit it at about 45MPH the result: two completely crack wheels!!! the tires are the only thing holding the wheels together... fck my life!!!

That is not normal dude, I've hot my fair share of nasty pot holes at speeds faster than 45MPH, and I've managed to damage the tires (bubbles on the sidewall) but the rims same as yours 162's held up like a champ, not even bent... You have defective rims, go to BMW and demand new rims and tires on all 4 corners and free alignment...
You might have the case, and they BMWNA may be afraid of a law suit and fix it for you since this is not normal damage for sure |

That must have been a hell of pothole to destroy a OEM wheel like that. Check suspension and brake disc/caliper for damage too.

It wouldn't take much to bring these wheels to a reputable shop. High end shops are able to x-ray metal composition and would be able to tell you if the wheel is defective or not. Obviously, these are. Just a "cya" that may be helpful should the dealer want to call "abuse" and charge you for replacement cost ..

And the fact that TWO wheels shattered like that would lead me to believe it's not casting defect, because I have seen that wheels stronger than OEM can and do shatter like that when impacted. |

Whoa! I've never seen anything like that before. You are VERY lucky to be safe.
I completely agree with this. It may take a whole lot of red tape, but I would definitely pursue it. If you can, take a picture of the pothole for evidence, and record the date and time of the incident.

Good thing you weren't hurt. Hopefully the suspension and stuff is not messed up.
