Grille Hell - help please!
Edit; solved. The original grilles do fit, it just looks pretty unlikely and takes more force than I'd anticipated.
I've got myself in a spot of bother, replacing my front bumper/fender on my SE (not Msport) 2007 E91 330D with a used genuine part from eBay. The part for my car should be 51117170051. Part I bought is 51117058443. They look identical and overall fit identical, except the brake duct/fog light grilles (lower outer grilles); the openings in the new bumper are too small for the grilles from my car. The center grille fitted perfectly, as did the kidney grilles. The fog lights also bolted up properly. ![]() Realoem has no reference to 51117058443, hence my confusion. I just assumed that fitment would be identical since it was listed as an E90/E91 pre-LCI on eBay. I assumed that maybe this new bumper was from a lower spec car, so taking a punt I bought 51117154551 and 51117154552 - no dice; they're the same size as my grilles (51117134081 and 51117134082). I'm aware that closed grilles (no brake duct) exist; 51117154553 and 51117154554. But these are listed as compatible with my original bumper, so I also doubt they fit. Also, would like to retain working brake ducts, FWIW. Can anyone shed any light on what 51117058443 really is? And which grilles ("partially open grid") are compatible? If the only option is a closed grille, I'll buy that and spend hours opening the grille where it needs it...but I'd rather avoid that. I just need something that fits.
